When I was a lot younger, a 20 ga Stevens single shot sat by the bed's headboard and I was happy.

When I bought my Bakial (Russian) 12 Ga Coach Shotgun, I got it cause:
    1. I like the looks of it. (It IS badass!) IMHO! No apologies!
    2. I like the quick, large pattern it threw. (HD and viscous rabbits)!
    3. Only shotgun I own that people says "Wow! May I see that thing?"
    4. Short barrels = easy to maneuver with.
    5. I have ALWAYS wanted one! Just imagine ~ sitting on that stagecoach holding that thing ~ !!!!
    6. The only difference between men and boys is the price of their toys.

OH NO!!!! I JUST SAW A 12 GA MOSSBERG 500 PUMP WITH 16 1/2 INCH BARRELS AT MY LGS!! ITCH! ~ ITCH! ~ SCRATCH! ~ SCRATCH!
LOL +1 on all of the above

THEY MAY TAKE OUR LIVES BUT THEY'LL NEVER TAKE OUR FREEDOM!!!!!

I keep a Stoger behind my door and I make no appology for it. I have studied shootings and home invasions for years, and in nearly every case that I have read, the bad guys are heading for the door at the first shot, hit or miss. The only time they did not was when the guy they were after was having questionable dealings, probably with the same guys he was shooting at. While I love my pump guns, they are noisy (mine are well used), long (you have to account for the reciever) and heavy. The 20" SXS is light, short, easy to load, non-jamming, and more than accurate enough for in the house. I have chosen it over the Remington 870 Police, Mossberg 3.5" Mag pump, Biakal 3.5" Mag auto, and Biakal 20" bbl SXS that I also own. It is a matter of choice and not "cool factor". In any case, it will likely not be the first gun that I get to. A CZ-75 Compact sits on my headboard bookcase, a Ruger Super Blackhawk .44 Mag. on the shelf above my bed, and my carry Ruger Blackhawk .44 Special on my pants / belt on the closet doorknob next to the bed. I actually have to get out of bed and walk four or five steps to get to the shotgun.
