IMO there's no way Obama will sign this....

That's why we must pressure him. Maybe if enough gun owners get on his ass about it and make him think we would vote for his second term he would sign it but even if he doesn't sign it isn't there something in congress that could override him. This country is supposed to be a Republic where the majority rules and we shouldn't be treated like children and have to beg big brother to pass or not pass certain bills. We must demand they do

Please pressure him and let us know how that works out. For congress to pass a bill over a veto there needs to be a vote with a two thirds majority in both chambers. Historically less than ten percent of bills that have been vetoed have been overturned and passed.

    Some more thoughts...

Getting HR 822 past the senate is going to be difficult, but it might be do-able.

My thought...IF HR 822 is passed in BOTH the Republican-controlled House, and the Democrat-controlled Senate, then the President is almost BOUND to sign it, since this would indicate the bill has support from both parties.

Also - the President is unpopular, and with the election coming up, he must pick his battles very carefully. Check out this article. (I don't usually put much stock in anything on Huffington Post, but I think this originated on the AP wire.)

    Just some food for thought.
