Here in Utah I had a hunters safety certificate, that I got when I was 12 years of age. I have a Honorable Discharge from the Navy in 1975. Yet I still had to take the course, as it was over the 1 year limit on training. Perhaps the instructor was wrong I thought, as I also have a FFL type 3 Collectors license. But they still made me take the course as per the BATF rules. It's appears that if you havent been trained on the do's and don'ts of carrying a concealed firearm you are required to take the class. This is what I was told by the BATF in September of 2010. I called them as I to was in doubt. I hadn't bought a hunting license in years. Yet I was able to and did to see if that would be enough to bypass the class requirement. But I was wrong again. When in doubt call the BATF they will give you what is required for your state. I could have saved myself $30.00 on the hunting license. By doing just that in the beginning.
