    First aid kits in cars!

I'm sure you all have some kind of first aid kit in the car but is it with in arms reach? It crossed my mind today after taking a new job that has me on the road thirty-forty minutes each way. Would I be able to help my self if I ended up in a one car MVA or a two or more car MVA in which I ended up pinned or in some other way trapped in my car. I like most carry a first aid kit in all my cars but for the most part they are kept in cargo area and not with in arms reach. So the answer would be no I would not be able to help my self should I find my self in a situation such as stated above. Then it crossed my mind am I alone? How many people would really be able to help them self's till aid arrived? I know most people how some kind of basic/vary basic first aid knowledge be it from military training/work training or just from watching TV shows. Keeping that in mind there is really only so much one can do with the shirt they have on or the belt they are wearing. So I ask how many of you have a well stocked first aid kit with in arms reach ( front seat or floor area) now it does not have to be a fully stocked BLS or ALS bag just a first aid kit? I'm now going to buy a nothing kit that will stay in the front seat with me while on the road.

I've got a quad cab pickup, I keep one in the glove box, one in the drivers side door panel, A BLS jumb bag in the back seat and a small kit in a backpack in the toolbox in the bed. Then again I am an EMT.

    16 3" bandage strip
    12 Benzalkonium chloride wipes
    1 triangular bandage
    5 butterfly closure strips
    2 ammonia inhalants
    1 burn cream
    1 sutures package
    1 multi-trauma dressing 12" x 30"
    1 Hemostat
    12 providone-iodine, USP wipe
    1 SS tweezers

I will have to head to a few surplus shops to check them out I had not thought about that, at $45 it's a deal compared to where I shop.

I take it you shop at galls? I do some shopping with them as well when the budget can take it. They are way over priced and sell all the same old China/Mexico made crap other stores sell FOR LESS. Half of their fully stocked medical kits are stocked with stuff from China! Had a nice chat with them about that crap! Looking at picking up that BLS extra kit on page two but the damn thing has been out of stock going on two months now. Yeah I got that little kit up in Vermont at the army navy store I will post the link. My army/navy store sells something like it but with less stuff and the Vermont one sells more medical kits.

    Barre Army/Navy Store Shopping Cart

( It will not let me post the link to the item but the kit I have and posted about is on page two and is called "Rapid Response Kit Bag" $44.95)

You can order them in Black/Tan/Woodland digital/olive drab/ or just woodland camo. Mine is woodland because it was the only color they had in stock the day I drove up. This kit is also nice

( posted a link here but it does not want to work the item I'm talking about is also on page two and is called the "Tactical Trauma Backpack" $159.95)

They sell it for less then Cheaperthandirt does. Think dirt has it at 180 something and they sell it for 159.95.
