Thread: Be wary of the mail

  1. I agree with the "glad you're safe" thread. Can't agree with the way you handled it though. Gases, chemicals, etc could have been released with the burning. If you have a problem with LE in the area call the fire chief. That was one f my big duties when I was an Asst. Chief. If it is something bad they're gonna have to ultimately deal with it anyway.

Holier than "thou" is a no-brainer. Still sounds like a personal problem to me, in fact, strange packages should be the least of your concerns.

  4. Is there ANY way the moderators of the site can warn newbies to the site to not believe anything Tricolor says, types, enters??? He's got to be an eleven year old in his parents basement making stuff up. Not since Forrest Gump has so many things happened to one person. Both are fiction.

I forget that some places don't have good police departments. Sounds like yours are some real wieners.

I think other than pouring gas on it, you probably handled it about as well as you could. I do wish you could have preserved enough to tell what it was. And it certainly convinced you to watch your mail closely. But since that failed, the next time might not be a suspicious package. It could be some strange vehicle again, maybe following your wife or one of your kids this time.

OK, so your police department is useless or worse. I agree. Go over their head next time. In Kansas we have the KBI branch of the FBI. I assume you have a WBI or something similar. Possibly they're not much better than your local PD, but maybe there's someone else? Especially if you get another suspicious package, call someone. At the very least, it'll get it on the record for evidence.

  8. If this is true, you screwed up IMO. Since it was shipped interstate it is a federal matter and you could have notified both the carrier and the FBI.

You voted for Obama, therefore nobody on this site except your liberal troll buddies will listen to you. Try defensivecarry.com, its' where all the liberal hypocrites such as yourself hang out.

+1, tricolordad. Even more because, if it was IN your mailbox, a call to the USPS Postal Inspector Service is in order. Ask anyone working for the USPS, a group with whom one should not trifle.

Your choice, while maybe not the wisest, did solve the immediate problem but does not address the source/ cause directly so that remains out there, unknown, as a threat to you and yours.

However, all y'all are safe for now, and that is a good thing.

I only receive packages when I pay for stuff online through UPS and FedEx, so for a package to be in my mailbox is very suspicious. The other thing that struck me as odd was that it had a return address from Newtown, CT, and was postmarked in Minneapolis, MN.

To make a long story, I carefully set it on a stump over 100 yards from my house and doused it with gasoline. I then made a trail of lighter fluid to the package, lit it and grabbed cover behind my garage. It ignited in a glorious fashion and almost immediately let off a few small pops. I let it burn for a few minutes and put it out with a few shovels full of dirt. There is no trace of paper in the debris and lots of small pieces of plastic. I do not know what it was, but I have a suspicion that it was supposed to harm me or a family member. I recently sent a few letters to the local paper countering with fact the rhetoric a Brady fan had sent in and angered several people in my community. I have been threatened and once had a man in a blue van follow me for almost 10 miles and try to run me off the road. I have received 2 hand written threats in my mailbox this week. And I have a feeling that it's just beginning.

Bottom line, if you did not send for it, do not open it, do not bring it in the house. Get it as far away as you can and dispose of it. Bury it, bun it, drop it in a lake, but do not open it. These are our adversaries and they do mean us harm.
