Original link states: "may be removed from flats/hi-rise towers," suspect reason is abuse or theft by yobbos who tamper, discharge 'em every time the Fire Brigade installs them. Not the kinds of hoods U want 2 frequent, lot of poor and doped out/drunk looking for agro 24/7 angry kids.
    Thats a trans-Atlantic confirm eyes-on report.

CL, you used to be one of them. What in the world are they thinking?

Well...yobs or not, I don't see that it's a great idea to remove fire extinguishers. Poor people in public housing deserve reasonable fire protection as much as anyone else. If there's a problem with teenagers taking them, there are measures that can be taken to mitigate theft and vandalism.

It's a similar issue to trying to stop guns from being carried in public housing projects and ghettos in the US. The right to self-protection doesn't start at the middle class.
