INfo you can learn around here a lot...and much more. I have one advice for you -- MOVE! Lived in Commieforniate before, pretty much like living back in my own country where no one is allowed to protect themselves. Like Ennngagaland, my other country is gun-free zone.

Anyway, welcome to this group. Hope you enjoy your stay.

I left the La-La state in January 2010 and never looked back.

  4. If I am not mistaken, the law was for open carry of an unloaded pistol. Seems kind of useless to carry that way for self defense anyway, it would be better for them to have a ccw setup instead

In CA, open carry of a loaded firearm in public places was banned in 1967 by Governor Ronald Reagan.

What was left was the open carry of unloaded firearms in non-restricted areas and the open carry of a firearm in areas where you can legally discharge a firearm.

A few years ago, the CA UOC (unloaded open carry) movement started open carrying unloaded handguns in non-restricted areas as a way to protest CA's carry laws.

As a response, the CA anti-gun legislators passed a law to prevent that activity.

What Governor Jerry Brown signed into law, bans the unloaded open carry of handguns in public places.
You can still open carry unloaded long guns in non-restricted areas and open carry loaded firearms in areas where you can legally discharge a firearm.

In a recent court case, a judge ruled that CA "may issue" CCW system was legal because a non-prohibited person could open carry an unloaded handgun as an alternative to being granted a CA LTC permit.

Now that unloaded open carry has been banned, it removes that reasoning from preventing "shall issue" CCW reform in CA.

I lived in the Peoples Republik of Kalifornia for 30 years. Until the people wake up and throw out the 'elitist leaches' from the governor on down out of the state and local governments at the ballot box, things will get worse. This includes the LEO's who support the lunacy that only law enforcement is qualified to own or carry guns. The gun laws are one of many reasons I moved. But I admit there is one thing I like about Kalifornia, and that is SEEING IT IN MY REAR VIEW MIRROR!

UOC has it's place and there have been many circumstances when I wish I knew about it. I moved from there 6 years ago (lived in O.C. 39 years) and NEVER want to go back. Unfortunately, I have family still there.

I lived in Huntington Beach from 88 to 91....surfed and bartended. I left that hell hole in July of 91 and never looked back.

  10. Jerry wins his anti gun laws.

I just saw that the laws have been passed by the Governor Jerry Brown...

What does the NRA do to challenge anything? I'm only a member for the discounts and they do a little bit of watch dogging but will never fight for state level anything. Local pro-gun Org's are the only ones that do anything.
