None of us here will tell you that concealed carry is wrong. But most of the reasons why people say they choose to conceal carry, and the reasons they use to tell us that open carry is wrong are really just theories and myths that either don't make sense or don't happen in real life. Concealed carry does reduce the possibility of attention due to your gun. Most of us who open carry discover that the vast majority of attention we receive due to the gun is positive, supportive and a chance to educate. In fact, most of the negative attention we receive is from concealed carry only snobs who can't resist telling us they carry their gun concealed and we should to.

But, if you don't want any attention at all, then carry concealed. If you want to carry past a gun buster sign, then conceal. If you just plain aren't comfortable open carrying, then conceal. Those of us who open carry don't really care if you carry your gun concealed, we will encourage you just to carry it - we don't understand why our open carry bothers some people who carry guns themselves so much. The biggest difference between the person who open carries and the person who conceals is whether or not they tuck their shirt in behind the gun, or wear their shirt over the gun. Most of the arguments are due to prejudices and unfounded stereotyping.
Anyone who says, "I support the 2nd amendment, BUT"... doesn't. Element of Surprise: a mythical element that many believe has the same affect upon criminals that Kryptonite has upon Superman.

Being apprehensive is natural to us humans, we are built that way. Which can get us into trouble at times, like that hesitation to do what you know in your mind is right but you just have to question it anyway. Hopefully someday when you need to pull the trigger you will have gotten over apprehensive tendencies and can rely on your instincts and training to keep you safe.

You can begin today in making that step, educate yourself regarding open carry and do it, and then never look back.

Talking Just another positive position by the public.

While dining tonight I was speaking with some friends who frequent the restaurant whom I've come to know.
    ~
A young lady (younger than me) approached me and offered her hand to me and thanked me for carrying a weapon openly in public. She did say that it made her mother who was with her nervous but she was glad to see someone carry a firearm for everyone to see.
    ~
The friends I was talking to hadn't even noticed I was carrying (full size 1911 in a IMI OWB holster) and didn't really respond either way once they became aware that I was carry a weapon.
    ~
I've always claimed openly that people only see what they want to see. Those looking for bad will find it, those who aren't really looking for bad don't notice a lot that commonly goes on around them every day.

I prefer, due to OC being illegal in my state to CC.

I don't buy the deterrance argument fully and think it does make you a target should the bad guy be determined to do what he/she wants. If you disagree, answer me this : why when a bank is robbed do they put a gun to the guard's head first? Maybe they want to take the gun they know he has.....

This is an age old argument that doesn't need to be re fought; it is just my opinion.

Right, the armed guard was an expected part of his plan which is why he is targeted. The LAC is as they say is the "X" factor.
Uh, of course you prefer to conceal. You don't have a choice, sorry.

Too much Hollywood in this post.

Both ways would work for me and have, OC in AZ and CC in Texas.

From what I know from shooting with many PA transplants as long as your not in a big city your usually fine. Where I'm from in MA OC is legal, but same thing, since nobody really does it you never know what the reaction will be. In the Western part of the state nobody cares, but in the Eastern Part, very likely panic.

Someones irrational fear of an inanimate object is not my problem, and is best left for the professional psychologist to deal with.
