Thread: Enough of the Ronald Reagan Praise B.S...

I believe that I am as "ideologically pure" as Bohemian. Certainly I would immediately vote for a much smaller federal government whose activity is predicated solely by its role as elucidated in the Constitution. And an immediate restoration of all our rights, as they have been delineated in the Constitution. Wouldn't everyone on this board?

So, I think our differences lie in our temperment and our approach to these issues. I'm willing to game the system and incrementally get back the rights and freedoms that have been stripped from us. I'm radical enough, but I'm also considering the logistics. That government that I want is not gonna happen overnight, IMHO. But as long as things are progressing (and they are - compare the number of carry states today versus 25 years ago), I'm willing to fight within the political system.

Bo seems more indignant and impatient than I am (not a criticism). He's pissed at the constant sripping away of our rights, just as I am, just as most of you are, I'm sure. (I could be wrong as I am now proscribing opinions to Bo that he might not have. My apologies, if so, but this is my perception.). So, he (and I) so no reason that the country shouldn't be restored immediately to is Constitutional structure and function. I just don't think realistically it's gonna happen that fast; multi-generations will have to pass (and fight) before this will happen.

I'll say this for Bohemian. He seems to walk the walk. He's paid his dues in service to our country and I don't see anyone seemingly more politically active and who studies the issues. I mean, look at the amount of first-hand data and information he posts, to back up his points. No one else (certainly not me) comes close to this level of preparation/documentation.

Keep up the good fight, Bo. (Man, I wish I was retired; then I'd have the time to match wits with you!)

I am 60 years old and in my opinion there has not been a really great president in my life time. There have been some that are worse than others though. So the real question for me is which ones have done damage to our republic and which ones have done moredamage. I thought Clinton was perhaps the worst. After the last election I have changed my mind.

    Political Reality Check.

Rome wasn't built or destroyed in a day.

Our rights were (sometimes with good intent) gang-raped over the last 150 years. They will not be totally regained in our lifetimes. The thought that we will ever be a Jeffersonian Republic again are clearly delusional.

Politics is the art of the possible. You can't implement policy if you lose the election. Those who will try and run on a strict ideologic platform like Mr. B, will discover they are on the fringe, and gather less than a percent of the vote. I suspect, those people will rarely win even a small local election.

Those more pragmatic folks, who can win an election, will wisely work hard and take a bite or two of our rights back. Next election we will fight hard and maybe get some more. Again, It is only through fighting a long war that we can hope to win. Some battles we will win and some we will lose. If we work hard, the wins will be bigger than the losses.

To sit here and bellyache that Reagan was bad because he had priorities other than RKBA (like the economy, the USSR, our depleted military, etc), is ridiculously absurd.

    Nobody in my lifetime...

None passed the Second Amendment Litmus Test...

Having served on active duty & deployed under Carter, Reagan, Clinton and both Bush's...

To paraphrase Barry Goldwater - I was sent to Washington to repeal unconstitutional laws, not create them...

Without the unabridged Second Amendment, none of the founding documents are worth the paper they were written on...

The sooner we get back to the Framers Constitution, the better we will be...

    I will agree to disagree...

Either the Constitution matters or it does not...

Constitution first & foremost, everything else comes second...

IF that makes me a ideologue in your view, so be it...

To obtain perfection in this world is an impossibility, no human is perfect and all have their flaws. It is this reason that I consider the best presidents in my life time to be JFK and Ronald Reagan. It doesn't matter who you elect, they will not be error free. We can strive only for the best not perfection. Granted what we have right now is far from the best.

It does not require perfection to follow the Constitution...

Ron Paul carries a pocket Constitution with him at all times...
Moreover, in Congress he is known as "Dr. No" by all his Colleagues in Congress, because he, like (Governor Sarah Palin did) routinely goes against his own party; when challenged by either side; he pulls out the Constitution and states please "Show Me" where that activity is authorized by the Constitution...

"We can be conquered by bombs or by subversion; but we can also be conquered by neglect - by ignoring the Constitution and disregarding the principles of limited government." - Barry Goldwater

I expect the Politicians whom represent my fellow American Citizens & I to use the Constitution as their guide first & foremost...

In addition to forgetting about Ronald Reagan's lifetime Constitution Trampling & Anti-Second Amendment Record; I guess you forgot about JFK's collaboration with his brother Bobby Kennedy he appointed as Attorney General, his brother Senator Teddy Kennedy (D-MA) and Senator Thomas Dodd (D-CT) [the father of Ethically Challenged Senator Chris Dodd (D-CT)] whom started what ultimately became the 1968 GCA under LBJ (D-TX) almost as soon as JFK became President...

"Those who don't know history are destined to repeat it." - Edmund Burke

Again, in my view no Politician whom violates the Constitution, past or present can be excused no matter how much good they do...

Moreover, said Constitution Tramplers need to be remembered for all time for such acts, and not praised because they Trampled the Constitution less than most in recent history...

That's like saying Hitler was not as bad as Mao because he killed less people...

A Violation of the Constitution is the single most heinous act a member of one of the three branches of the Government can do; the Second Amendment is the Keystone of all the founding documents; without the Unabridged Second Amendment, nothing else has merit or is enforceable...

The Trend of Acceptance of Constitutional Infringement is coming to a close; the sheeple are finally reading the founding documents and the writings of the founding fathers and more & more are joining movements such as the T.E.A. Party and saying TAKE BACK THE REPUBLIC!

    As Barry Goldwater said...
"I am convinced that most Americans now want to reverse the trend. (Of Constitutional Infringements) I think that concern for our vanishing freedoms is genuine. I think that the people"s uneasiness in the stifling omnipresence of government has turned into something approaching alarm. But bemoaning the evil will not drive it back, and accusing fingers will not shrink government."

    WTFU SHEEPLE...

    TAKE BACK THE REPUBLIC...

I believe that most politicians including presidents do not follow the constitution because they are more or less controlled by a bureaucratic elite that has for its goals a one world government/new world order.

Maybe we need National Ovaries as well? Or, how about just National Huevos?
