My interest in it is the entertainment value of watching them go kicking and screaming all the way.
LOL... your sense of perception is very keen I see... I like it

Alaska, I'm going to try and hit on some of your main points, and try to keep it short and sweet.

Your right it is the hardest to convert someone who has been raised in christianity, such as myself. I did do the whole baptism thing, and I really thought I was living the life... until I opened my eyes and the brainwashing lost its hold. I cannot remember if there was a single event that took place or what exactly happened... but, it did. I awoke from the ridiculous belief that I have to follow some guy with a beard or I will go to eternal torture... I'm sorry I dont do well with threats or scare tactics of that nature. I need proof and evidence to support your religious claims. If there was any one true religion that makes any sense to me at all, it would be a form of paganism. Where the followers were at one with everything around them; i.e. Nature, each other, the earth, the animals. I think to have respect and be at one with the everything around you is much more sensible than preaching how much better you are, or how right you are and everyone else is wrong, for believing in one god.

Your story of how you had a one on one with god... although entertaining.. sounds very similar to anyone you have a conversation with after any hallucinogenic drug trip. I'm a believer that our minds are much more powerful than we know. And, that if you try hard enough you can convince yourself of anything. Ever heard of "Mind over matter"? You want to believe soooo baad that you have convinced yourself that it really happened. You say you have a personal relationship with JC... well I'm sure I can go to any psychiatric hospital, and find someone with a similar story.

The saddest thing about your pointed "jew comments" is that you do not even realize what a bigot you really are. Go ahead and respond--show others how embarrassing you can really be. This thread is getting too "dirty" for me and I will not be around it anymore.
LOL, yep this was a shot at you. This seems like it was your only input to any conversation.. "the jew did this or that", and if anyone mouths the word jew, you come rushing in pointing the bigot finger. I found your button and I pushed it.

Actually, America isn't supposed to have ANY official religion,
Nor is religion of any kind supposed to be involved in the government.

You have the RIGHT to PRACTICE any religion you want to,
But you DO NOT have the right to try and influence/recruit/convert anyone else, that's not a 'Right' and shouldn't be tolerated.

Personally, I'm offended by the total lack of disregard for the constitution right now,
The total disregard for my personal rights as I'm bombarded daily, usually hourly, with religion crap on TV, radio, from elected officials, ect.
And I really wish the right wing, 'Christian' section of the population would quit trying to force their version of 'Religon' on me at every turn...

I will defend your RIGHT to any practice any religion (or no religon) you want to,
But when the right wing tries to force it down my throat,
It leave a REALLY bad taste!

You would think people would show better taste than to try and force feed the very people that defended and still defend their rights to any belief system they care to take up this week...

Religions/Religious Sects/Religious Dogma come and go with the wind,
Are swayed by politics, world events, regional customs, ect.
But the only constant is the people defending the right to change your minds and switch religious sects/affiliations.

Please just show some manners, and leave people to choose what they want to like it's supposed to be...
If the 'Christians' keep abusing the privileges they are given right now,
Eventually the defenders of those privileges will get sick and tired of the constant assult on THEIR RIGHTS,
And that will be where the trouble begins.

'True Believers' in Christianity are about 15% (roughly 18% in the US) world wide.
The same percentage of people most medical establishments consider 'Seriously Delusional' at any given time...

Personally, I look at 'True Believers', people willing to support a 'National Religon' or killing someone that doesn't convert, the same as the seriously delusional or mentally dangerously unstable.
Believing in any given 'Higher Power' that can't be proven or even supported by facts is a mental illness in my opinion...

If it weren't for GWB trying to fight the crusades again, we wouldn't be in Iraq at all.

If it weren't for the 'True Believers' in the Tailban & Al Quada, we wouldn't have issues in Afghanistan.

The sooner we drop the superstitions/religions and learn to get along, the better off the entire planet will be.

The sooner the 'True Believers' figure out they weren't given the planet to do with what they want,
    Pollute, waste, ect.
And they figure out they didn't inherent the planet from some superior being,
But are borrowing the planet from their grand children,
The better off we will be.

We ARE NOT the 'Masters & Owners' of the earth,
We are just borrowing it from our offspring...

If you want to believe in Aliens, God, Allah, Zeus, Crom, Great Spirits, or whatever,
You have the right to do so, Guaranteed by the constitution and that right protected by soldiers and should be enforced by the government (Which currently is not open to any religion other than certain sects/offshoots of Christianity).

All that is fine with me.
Just show some manners and don't try to force the belief system you have on me while the rest of us are actually trying to figure out how/why things work like they do without just saying 'God Made It That Way'...

    Just one foot note,
It wasn't until 1996 the 'Catholic' church finally differed and admitted the earth wasn't the center of the universe, that we actually revolve around the sun.

It wasn't until 2004 the 'Catholic' church finally differed and admitted there was 'Officially' something beyond our solar system.

'Christian' doctrine still allows for capitol punishment of 'Heretics', so you can be put to death simply by disagreeing with the 'Christian' religions.
Not even Islam allows for death, they consider 'Non-Believers' mentally compromised and should be pitied instead of killed in horrible fashion.

I don't care what you believe in, you have the right to warship a grilled cheese sandwich or defects in a pane of glass in this country.

You DO NOT have the right to try and make anyone else do so.
    Please respect that...

No kidding. I was too exhausted to even attempt to respond to this diatribe. However, you succinctly captured the essence of my thoughts, HK.

I'm cool, HK, just really tired. Might as well take the moment to apologize to other posters with whom I may have shown short patience. I'm typically a little more upbeat; right now, my attitude is just plain ugly.

Dear Onlinedad, I have spent quite a bit of time in mental hospitals and actually that is where my mom and dad met as well. She was a nurse, my dad was in college working at night for a place to sleep and I am a doctor. I have never had any hallucinations. I am truly sorry that you did not take the next step to look for the proof in the Bible yourself. I was an agnostic until after I became a doctor. At the age of 36 I was confronted with Bible prophecy. The Lord showed me the proof that I was looking for after I was confronted with the evidence of Bible prophecy. If you say that the Bible does not have proof, I will categorically tell you are absolutely wrong about that, it is nothing but proof from Genesis to Revelation. Perhaps some day, you will look again. You won't find any flying spaghetti monsters, but if you actually read what is between the pages you might find the true God of our salvation.

You should also know that God does not force Himself upon anyone, if you choose to separate yourself from Him and have nothing to do with Him, then that is what He will give you. Unfortunately, Heaven is the only place where you will find God after leaving this earth, so Hell is actually more correctly the abscence of God which also means the abscence of all things good since they come from God. If that is the choice you want to make, God will let you make that choice out of free will. Why, because to love you must have the free will to choose to love. If it was forced, then it is not free and love cannot exist. You are quite incorrect on that point as well. Love is free and we have the freedom to choose.

But once again, we have strayed from our theme, is America a Christian nation? No, not really anymore. But I will compare what the Christian American nation achieved and was blessed with compared to this pagan world we see before us today. I was able to run free as a child, do you let your children run free anymore in this pagan world?
