Thread: I weep for my country

  1. Thumbs down

"I am witnessing a moslem with no ability, other than a penchant for reading from a teleprompter and "connecting" with his audiences, systematically voiding the constitution and destroying the america we all love and I weep some more."

    Voiding the Constitution? Really?

    Really?

I assume you are talking about the healthcare bill?

Where were you during the bush years? Let's just take some of the more egregious Constitution-zapping measures:

    1. Suspension of habeus corpus
    2. Warrantless wiretapping
    3. Commence a war under false pretenses
    4. Secret tribunals
    5. Guantanamo

Things started going to crap a long time ago.

I leave you with a quote from Benjamin Franklin:
"Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." (1759)

I agree we've definately been going downhill for sometime. I think we need to clean house from top to bottom, and get some fresh eyes/blood in office. Candidates that will represent the people, not the buisnesses that can line their pockets.

I find it astonishing that anyone could relate the movie "Defiance" with a potentially similar scenario here in the U.S. 60-odd years later in a forum post entitled "I weep for my country." It takes a truly depraved and ignorant mind to promote such a concept considering only the technology and geography involved, much less the social and political aspects.

I really feel sorry for you. I truly do.

Sorry Jay--I understand what you are saying but you have reduced complicated scenarios into a one size fits all package. Bush's avoidance of the Constitution was done in response to direct terrorist threats against this country by our enemies and as abhorent as they may be if you are a "died in the wool" ACLU-type person, they do not compare to the avoidance of the Constitiution by a moslem fascist/socialist/communist piece of crap who happens to be president and wants to destroy this country with the help of his democrat wussies and his fellow advisors. The two examples you fit together, although both true to an avoidance of the Constitution, are mutually exclusive of each other in their intent. Whether you believe it or not IMO Bush was trying to protect this country while the piece of garbage is trying to destroy it.

Those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it.

Sorry, Kel, but I believe that you are flat out wrong here. I had "W" trying to take my first, fourth, fifth, and eighth amendment rights, and I've got "O" trying to take my second, ninth, and tenth amendment rights.

HEY! I WANT ALL OF MY RIGHTS!

Screw the crappy republicans, and screw the crappier democrats. It is because of both of these pools of festering corruption that we are all weeping for our country.

I am ready for the Thomas Jefferson party.

That will take a politician that is a true patriot. That might be a tall order these days.

Hey Boom: Appreciate your pointed comments replying to Cocked & Locked who, I guess, feels it is necessary to demean and get personal instead of being a gentleman and just state his counter arguments--I am truly embarrassed by forum members who find it necessary to engage in personal innuendo. I can agree with comments about constitutional failures from both presidents but I just see a distinct difference in the intent of the two of them--overreacting to a threat vs intent to destroy.
