Come, come Charles. I don't think any one here thinks that anarchy is the best form of government. If you are stating that law and order = socialism then there is not much room at all for discussion. I have been to the Philippines twice and they are ruled by chaos in so many ways. I greatly appreciate the rule of the law, yet that rule can be done in such a way to maximize not only individual freedom, but individual responsibility. Your views of social justice and redistribution of wealth limit freedom for law abiding citizens. That is not the system that most of us wish to live in. Nor do we appreciate taking care of people who could work but don't.

The Bible says it very well, if you don't work, you don't eat. That would get people's attention that want to live off of the work of other people. Pull your own weight and give unto others out of the obligation to your fellow man for those who simply can't work for whatever reason.

The question under consideration is whether political intervention in the economy = socialism, as alleged by Mojo.

My only answer to how they wish to live their life is "Good Luck."
Mr. Alaska, what images of Jesus. H. Christ are disgusting?

No, I don't believe that is a good definition of socialism. The robber barons of the 19th century did away with the blatant capitalistic model. Greed does not serve the society well. The issue of government and how much we need is the issue of the Federalist papers. Obviously the articles of confederation did not work well. So likewise, over regulation is not a good thing as well. Unfortunately, it is a rarity for governments to give up power, they always tend to usurp power not delegated to them by the people in our example here in America. What is the proper balance is the question at hand between law and order and overt tyranny by a government usurping political and economic power. I see no examples that have proved well in that philosophy of government.

that was not alleged by me.,.....it was an article that was copied, you couldnt figure that one out either?
This grows ever so tiring.........like arguing with a 5 year old. why does a dog have hair, but why, but why, but why.
Its the typical scenario of a liberal alleging he is bipartisan......as long as you are doing what he wants.
You wish to compare a program, SS, that in its intent is a government program providing a form of buffer for retirement........never intended to BE ones retirement,(and a crappy idea of progressives to begin with to further grow their power) with a fulfledged all out socialistic gorvernment. because you even beleive that there is legitimacy to that position is why it is futile to make any attempt to have a sensible dicussion.
you and the rest of the individuals on here that have far more patience than I, can continue to butt heads and whip the horse. Personally I see no purpose.

BTW........you mock Christ by attaching a picture of a Mexican and refering to it as Jesus, you mock the bible calling it a book of fairy tales about a make beleive man in the sky, you mock His name again by referring to him as Jesus H Christ and you really think you're being cute by saying well what did I do I didnt do anything. about as sophomoric, no worse, childish and displays a level of smallness not often seen in mature men and women (of any political affiliation) to the degree that you deserve pity. Certainly you are underserving of the forum that this site affords you.

    My 2 cents, OK maybe a nickels worth;
The individual NOT Society had, yes I used past tense, rights guaranteed by the Bill of rights. By Society's' continued erosion of those rights we have ended up where we are today. The masses overrides, trumps the individual. Social Justice has prevailed over Individual Rights. I'm am now forced to conform to oppressive laws then to enjoy my freedom as an individual. I, the individual, now not only provides for myself and family. I must also, by force and or threat of incarceration, support the Federal Gov't which will distribute according to need. Heck, it's not even by need but who to pay off for the next up coming election. My rights as an individual have been so eroded that I've basically been disenfranchised by the whole process. I haven't seen anyone stand up for me yelling Disenfranchised-Disenfranchised!
The Constitution and Bill of rights was initiated and passed to ensure the individual would never be enslaved, yet we have reverted and all in America, who work, are just part of Uncle Sam's Plantation. NOT what our Founding Fathers envisioned.

"The smallest minority on earth is the individual. Those who deny individual rights cannot claim to be defenders of minorities." --author and philosopher Ayn Rand (1905-1982)

Mr Alaska, the one so enjoyed by onlinedad, was a picture of a woman putting her fingers in her ears.

Not one of your lord and savor, Jesus H. Christ.

It is possible you could be referring to the picture of the Mexican gentleman, Jesus.

There are several Hispanics, both boys and girls with Jesus as part of their name.

You don't like that? Take it up with them, not me.

BTW, if God, and Jesus are all powerful, and all knowing, why don't they just deal with me, instead of having the self appointed, and self anointed minions, like you and the other ultra religious people who say they speak for God and Jesus.

Did you and the other ultra religious people get some kind of directive to defend God?

If there is a God, who created all there is, how can a guy on an internet forum cause him/her any harm?

If God and Jesus want to tell me something, I am sure he/she will send me a message, phonecall, or email. Hell, I would even settle for a miracle. Maybe a burning bush?
