More proof we're not a Christian Nation:

The petition of the Reverend Joseph Willard and others, in behalf of the congregational clergy of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, was read, stating "that printers in some of the states are now undertaking to publish editions of the Holy Bible, a work which, in its nature, requires a most critical and faithful inspection, and which, in other Christian countries, is performed under the direction of the supreme authority;" and praying "Congress to take this interesting subject into their consideration, and to direct such measures as, in their wisdom, may be thought proper, to secure tire public from impositions by inaccurate editions of the Holy Scriptures."

Ordered, That this petition lie for consideration.

--Journal of the Senate of the United States of America, 1789-1793 MONDAY, JUNE 14, 1790.

Whether one believes that the United States was fire formed under the leadership of God led men or not does not change the reality of it. The Mayflower Compact is clearly a Christian document resulting from their fleeing imprisonment, torture, harassment, and even death at the hands of religiosity in Europe. For those of you espousing ignorant views of the early history of the country--please become a bit more informed instead of spouting public school rhetoric and even worse-liberal college "smart people's" beliefs. If one wants to find the truth it is plainly open-- or they can continue to spread their ill conceived views that the folks that settled this country were athiests, agnostics, and heatherns. If my bluntness ticks you off then disprove me with facts.

Nope. It's actually Anti-Christian, because it's based on the evil premise that civil governments are founding in the name of God. True Christians, such as most of our founders, believe that the civil magistrate hath no power over things purely spiritual.

The U. S. Constitution rejects the evil premise of the Mayflower Compact and instead assumes that legitimate governments are established in the name of the people.

No Pilgrim was ever imprisoned, tortured or harassed by a government because of his religion. A few did get jailed briefly for being illegal immigrants.

they can continue to spread their ill conceived views that the folks that settled this country were atheists, agnostics, and heathens.
According to Google, you're the only one who has ever said that the folks that settled this country were atheists, agnostics, and heathens.

That is the problem. They do not want the truth.

Platform of the Peace and Freedom Party
The Peace and Freedom Party, founded in 1967, is committed to socialism, democracy, ecology, feminism and racial equality. We represent the working class, those without capital in a capitalist society. We organize toward a world where cooperation replaces competition, a world where all people are well fed, clothed and housed; where all women and men have equal status; where all individuals may freely endeavor to fulfill their own talents and desires; a world of freedom and peace where every community retains its cultural integrity and lives with all others in harmony. We offer this summary of our immediate and long-range goals:

...We call for the defense and extension of the liberties guaranteed in the Bill of Rights, including freedom of speech, press, assembly and association, and the right to keep and bear arms for individual and collective defense. The ultimate guarantee of those rights is the organized strength of the working class.

I see the evidence that some socialist was recently here. Kind of like the slime trail left behind as a slug passes through.
