Wrong again Charles, the last I heard is that the US government with its "acquisitions" of the last year controls 48% of the US economy at this time. However, not sure what the recent Financial bill does to that figure. In addition, the US health care bill will squeeze out more companies that will then need a "bail out." Not really bail outs at all, but take overs. Just ask the folks at GM. So, nearly 50% of the US economy, mortgages, student loans, health care, banking, US car makers, etc is ALL governement controlled.

because it has worked so well up until now not only in this country but others. NOT.
In the 1930's, our small government was unable to solve the enormous social problems presented by a complex industrialized society. If the U. S. Government had not become a Big Government, there probably would have been a workers' revolution and an establishment of collective ownership and management of the means of production.

Don't confuse a little common sense regulation of commerce with totalitarian communism.

the US health care bill will squeeze out more companies that will then need take overs.
How, exactly, will it do that?

In the mid twenties our small government increased the complexity of our industrialized society, thereby CAUSING the Depression of the 30's. The New Deal managed to extend the crisis 10-15 years longer than it should have lasted.

"The depression was the calculated 'shearing' of the public by the World Money powers, triggered by the planned sudden shortage of supply of call money in the New York money market....The One World Government leaders and their ever close bankers have now acquired full control of the money and credit machinery of the U.S. via the creation of the privately owned Federal Reserve Bank."
Curtis Dall, FDR's son-in-law as quoted in his book, My Exploited Father-in-Law

"The New Deal is plainly an attempt to achieve a working socialism and avert a social collapse in America; it is extraordinarily parallel to the successive 'policies' and 'Plans' of the Russian experiment. Americans shirk the word 'socialism', but what else can one call it?"
H.G. Wells The New World Order 1939

[B]"Under Socialism you would not be allowed to be poor. You would be forcibly fed, clothed, lodged, taught, and employed whether you liked it or not. If it were discovered that you had not the character and industry enough to be worth all this trouble, you might possibly be executed in a kindly manner. . . ." [This is compassionate liberalism.]
Fabian Socialist Bernard Shaw in his Intelligent Woman's Guide to Socialism and Capitalism, 1928/B]

"The people will be crushed under the burden of taxes, loan after loan will be floated; after having drained the present, the State will devour the future."
    Fredric Bastiat

"The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of "liberalism" they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened." Norman Thomas, for many years U.S. Socialist Presidential candidate.

Nope. You're wrong. The government is not assuming ownership and control of the means of providing health care or health care insurance. You're confusing a little common sense regulation with tyranny.

OK, I was wrong. You're not wearing rose colored glasses. You think all of this is a good idea and going
according to plan. Obviously you think we're so stupid as to believe that the govt. is NOT taking over
control of health care. Fine. I can see why you have houses in France and Sweden; they're more to you
liking. Adios amigo! And I also think that you're confusing tyranny with an acceptable form of govt.

What makes you think the dollar is about to collapse?

What makes you think that it won't. Our continued deficit spending and non-stop printing of dollars to cover
expenses will lead to the collapse of the dollar. The govt. can never, NEVER, pay back all of the money it owes, especially when interest rates eventually rise, as they will have to, and then the interest payments get even larger. The only way out for the govt. is through inflation which will destroy our buying power
and lead to a lower standard of living for us regular folks who do not have another house or two in other
countries. So, when inflation has ravaged our dollar and our economy, I think it would be safe to say
that the dollar will have collapsed. It may take another 2-3 years, but it will collapse.

I told you free trade was a bad idea.

At least we agree on one thing.

Think about this. We need Big Government to solve Big Economic Problems.
Now here's where I have to wonder about either your judgment or you sanity Sir. Big Government is what
has caused Big Economic Problems. If you can't or won't see this, then I can't help you and won't even
waste my time trying to explain it to you.
Kill them all and let God sort them out!

If you say Social Security is Socialism, that's fine with me. I'll be happy to stand with the overwhelming majority of Americans who are Socialists and favor preserving our system of Social Security.
I sent a letter to Senator John Kerry 2 years ago asking him to send me a form that I could use to opt out of the Social Security system. Allowing me to take the money I have vested currently (paying the tax penalty of course) and invest it in a private IRA attempting to keep what is mine. I was told that will not fix the issues we have currently with the system.
I'm being told that I should expect to get back 70% (or perhaps less) of the 100% I have invested when I attempt to retire.. Thanks to the liberals we have this socialist system in place. Hummm seems to be working so well.

Yea, we all should shoulder some of the blame for allowing this to happen in this country. I have made it my new hobby to do my part in removing the left-wing liberal jackasses from government both local, state and federal. It seems I'm not alone in this objective. It happened here locally...
Most of the American people disagree with the socialized health care reform crap being forced. I wonder why? That system like all the socialist systems, will be flawed and end up costing us more money. For some reason we have gotten used to that being the case. It shall be no more if I can help it.

Bigger government??? Are you kidding?? Uhggg another sheep who loves the green grass provided by the master... If they come for your guns and tell you "you can't have them anymore", If they tell you to stop eating certain foods because they have been linked to health issues and since the government provides you with health care cost control we require this, if they tell you to be quite because what you say creates tension and disrupts the harmony, what will you say? Or will you bleat and eat the grass? Please...

You can keep spewing the rant of the socialist liberal here on this site and you will draw comments of reprove and rebuke from most, perhaps name calling from others. I will not follow you to the Cool-Aid.

Through your views the world makes sense to you. It feels better when things make sense and can be made comfortable and sensible. You are free to have views as we all are. That is the joy of freedom. You will never see it the same way as I, and I will never try to convert you.

The rest of the nation has begun to stir and become aware of how much has happened while it slumbered thinking all was well. NO_vember is coming and primary elections are happening all over the nation. I intend to do my part to see that the dismantling of the liberal machine is begun. I will teach my children that the liberal machine is never to be benefited nor assisted by their hands. I can hope that my teachings will take hold and foster a better future. It's the best anyone can hope for.

No more shall I write of this matter, no benefit comes from discussing it further. Action.

    Peace...
You can give peace a chance alright..

I'll seek cover in case it goes badly..

Even if that is true, which it probably isn't, I don't see how it changes the fact that in the 1930's, our small government was unable to solve the enormous social problems presented by a complex industrialized society.

You would probably just lose all of your investment to a cut throat capitalist like me and then we'd be back where we were before Social Security when all the old people lived in poverty.
