I am a patriot of this country and want to make a difference. i believe defending our borders are more tantamount then the wars in the middle east. id rather our men and women die in our country defending it then 10000 miles away.I have no military background but have 23 years in martial arts, and a professional cage fighter.firearms training and my own weapons.

i am not anxious to shoot at anyone, i only want security for my family and country.

im willing to volunteer my time to help the cause.
As a Soldier with 18 years in the United States Army and currently serving another year in Afghanistan, I would just like to say one thing on this point. As much as I hate being in this Country, I would rather bring the war they started on 9/11 to their Country. Its safer for our Citizens, and our way of life. I would rather the damage be done on their soil than ours. If we were not fighting here we would be fighting on our own ground. Just my two cents. Dave

Pdawg. Firstly, thank you and God bless. But if the fighting were here, don't you think congress and the president would be more inclined to give you the resources and have more determination to expedite a conclusion? Until we can define an enemy this cat and mouse war will drag on forever taking more American lives.

Wise old owl, we all know you don't ask a question you can not answer. Pd may not want to answer your question.... I can only imagine his stress.

I agree! But I would also like to see a genuin private border patrol set in place that has a better "ROE" than what the current government one has. I think people who live on the border should be able to engage people who are bringing dope across the borders, as well as if they see people with weapons. I do not think that just anyone with a gun should be able to do this however, but would like to see more people getting actual training in the use of firearms as well as tactics to defend themselves. Maybe some sort of certification of completion before they can "partol" their land with guns and engage hostile threats.

Yes I think they would be more inclined. Ask yourself the cost though. It is not worth even one American civilian death to me. The enemy has made it a cat and mouse war, If we don't adapt they will continue to bomb our cities, and their resource pool will be focused on just the United States of America. As it is now, we are forcing them to commit their money and their Soldiers to a direct threat on one of their largest strongholds. I do not say this lightly as I know the cost of war, and I hope most will never see it. We are a trained army and we have all decided the risk to our personal safety is a small price to pay for the safety of the people of the United States of America.

Clearly you are a person of honor. I have never been in your shoes, and thats why I respectfully asked your opinion, and give it great value. It just seemed to me that we have lost more soldiers than we lost civilians since 9 11, and it breaks my heart every time I see more of our best and brightest die. I'm all for bringing you all home and tightening our borders. Our thoughts and prayers are always with every one of you, and you deserve our eternal thanks and gratitude. I hope all of you are brought home soon.

    Border Militia

The initial idea of a citizens border militia was a poorly outlined attempt to correct the situation our that federal government has failed at miserably. Firstly, if you were a volunteer, you were not allowed to be armed while on patrol. Second, the conditions are extreem and few people are willing to submit themselves to such physical and mental pain. For us to seal our borders is of grave import!! We need to use the National Guard (kinda what it stands for?) to preserve the sanctity of our country. But we need to do so in a manner that will really give second thought to those choosing to enter illegally. For now, let's get our Federal and Local laws enforced, take all the illegals out of our schoolsand deport them, if the children go, so will the parents. If we do not hire them, they will go home as well for a little money is better than none. But this is a pipe dream, I am afraid the USA may eventually become the United Socialist States of America (USSA).

Our Gov. does not want to seal the border or deport the ileagals for some reason I do not understand. Great post and point of view.
