This article is from the London Daily Mail:

A father of three was murdered after going to a neighbour's house to retrieve his son's football.

David Martin was allegedly stabbed with a samurai sword and a knife then bludgeoned round the head with a golf club.

His wife and two youngest children watched in horror as an argument broke out and Mr Martin collapsed in agony.

A girl of 14 is among five people arrested over the attack on Sunday in Mitcham, South West London.

Police believe Mr Martin's ten-year-old son Jamie had been playing football with friends on a small patch of common land behind the family's house at about 7pm when one of them accidentally kicked the ball into the neighbour's back garden.

It is believed the neighbour refused to give the ball back.

Jamie then told his father, who went round to ask for the ball back himself.

An argument broke out in the front garden and, within minutes, the 40-year-old window cleaner was dying as his wife Angela, Jamie and 12-year-old daughter Samantha looked on in horror.

The couple's 14-year-old daughter Sophie did not see the attack.

Mrs Martin, 39, who tried to intervene, was treated for minor injuries and shock at nearby St Helier Hospital. She is in a stable condition.

In an appalling coincidence, Mr Martin's father Raymond was also murdered - trying to save David from a gang 22 years ago.

Mr Martin Snr, a 49-year-old father-of-four, was kicked and punched to death outside a pub near the family home in Mitcham by up to 20 youths wielding wooden sticks and metal poles.

One elderly neighbour said last night: "This is absolutely devastating because his dad died 20 years ago.

"A gang of boys were after David and his dad saw them having a go at him.

"He intervened but they all turned on him with a metal bar, killing him.

This is confusing. I was under the impression that if we did away with all guns crimes of violence would go away.

This is truly very sad. It is a true same that you can't even try to retrieve you son's football.

No, no, Doc . . . All GUN crimes will go away and we'll live in a gun-free Nirvana, like they do now in Great Britian and Australia. The problem here is that they haven't gotten around to registering knives yet.

    But they will...

:DThank God our motor vehicles are registered so we don't have to worry about getting killed on the streets and highways anymore!
The more I practice, the 'luckier' I get!

  6. Never mind the knives and swords, what about those golf clubs? When will someone take away those instruments of death? Like anyone really needs those for "sport" ;):D

I think the real problem here was the football. If we did away with the footballs there would be no crimes.
By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house;by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith Heb.11:7

Naw, It ain't about knives or footballs. It's the damned garden. If the murderer hadn't had that garden, there'd have been no garden to protect from errant footballs to begin with. No garden, no need to get upset when a football knocks a tomato off a vine.

Hey, I know! They need a law requiring a fence or wall around all gardens to fend off such errant footballs - a fence that won't make the ball bounce back and scuff some poor kid's hands when he catches the football, mind you, but one where the ball will just loose its energy and fall to the ground at the base of the fence.

Yeah, that's it. There 's your solution. Now, go sue Parliament for neglecting to enact such a law that would have prevented the murder.

Hmmm, I think maybe if we all just stayed in-doors with internet jobs and some crazy vacuum powered food delivery systems and we all wore bubble wrap and got rid of all the video games and anime porn and heavy objects...............

O.K. Maybe it WOULD be better to just arm all your honest citizens. Guess I'm going to get back to my anime now.

(I'm not making a mockery of this incident, I've been to the U.K. and the violence in mind numbing. I really would rather be shot in a gun fight than beaten to death defensless. Or beaten to death at all.)
