Post A Brief History of World Gun Control

    I recieved this e-mail today and thought I'd share it with USA Carry members;

To many, this is a repeat of old news. To some, you will say, no way this could happen in America . Really?
Read and be paying close attention to what our fearless leaders are doing daily in D.C.

"Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what's for dinner. Liberty is a well armed lamb contesting the vote."
    Benjamin Franklin
    Gun History

After reading the following historical facts, read the part about Switzerland, twice.

In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929! to 1953, about 20,000,000 dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
    ------------------------------

In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1..5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
    ------------------------------

Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.
    ------------------------------

China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated
    ------------------------------

Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
    ------------------------------

Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated

    ------------------------------

Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, one million educated people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the 20th Century because of gun control: 56,000,000!!!

    ------------------------------

It has now been 16 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by their own Government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500 million dollars. The first

    year statistics are now in:

Australia-wide: Homicides are up 3.2 percent.

Australia-wide: Assaults are up 8.6 percent.

Australia-wide: Armed robberies are up 44 percent..

Victoria-wide: Homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent. (Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the criminals did not, so criminals still possess their guns!)

While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in armed robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the past 12 months, since criminals now are guaranteed that their prey are unarmed.

There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the ELDERLY. Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety has decreased, after such monumental effort, and expense was expended in successfully ridding Australian society of guns. The Australian experience and the other historical facts above prove it.

You won't see this data on the U.S. evening news, or hear politicians disseminating this information.

Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws adversely affect only the law-abiding citizens..

Take note my fellow Americans, before it's too late! The next time someone talks in favor of gun control, please remind them of this history lesson. With guns, we are 'citizens.' Without them, we are 'subjects'.

During WWII the Japanese decided not to invade America because they knew most Americans were ARMED!

If you value your freedom, please spread this anti-gun control message to all of your friends and relatives

The purpose of fighting is to win. There is no possible victory in defense. The sword is more important than the shield, and skill is more important than either. No weapon can be properly used or wielded without the brain.

SWITZERLAND ISSUES EVERY HOUSEHOLD A GUN!

SWITZERLAND'S GOVERNMENT TRAINS EVERY ADULT TO WHOM THEY ISSUE A RIFLE.

SWITZERLAND HAS THE LOWEST GUN-RELATED CRIME RATE OF ANY CIVILIZED COUNTRY IN THE WORLD!!!

IT'S A NO BRAINER, FOLKS!! DON'T LET OUR GOVERNMENT WASTE MILLIONS OF OUR TAX DOLLARS IN AN EFFORT TO MAKE ALL LAW ABIDING CITIZENS AN EASY TARGET OR WORSE, A CHALK OUTLINE.

I'm a firm believer of the 2nd Amendment!

If you are too, please forward this note. Just consider how powerful our government is getting!

OUR GOVERNMENT THINKS THESE OTHER COUNTRIES SIMPLY DIDN’T DO IT RIGHT.

WELL, LEARN A LESSON FROM HISTORY!!

Also note that in Australia, home invasions are also way up. Now get this, the politicians can't explain this trend, because the don't have a definition of what a home invation is. Is it realy that hard to figure out?

    Hmmmm.....

The "anti's" NEVER talk about little Switzerland!
And to show how European they are, they even have government supplied ammunition for the military rifles they let their citizens keep after their military service!

Some days, I just love the facts!

This is why we can never allow the Government to take our guns. We must fight back against those that would have this happen here.

Count me in. I am in the process of writing my state Senator about certain reforms to the laws here in SC. I would encourage you all ( or all y'all, if you prefer) to do the same. Ted Nugent once said that if your elected officials do not know you by name, then you are not doing your job as a citizen.

Oath Keepers » Oath Keepers – Guardians of the Republic <-- best insurance policy. I'm a founding member and work every day to raise awareness.

The worst genocides of the 20th Century <-- WHY we must never give up our guns. Who could be so naive to imagine this could never happen HERE?

"God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion.
The people cannot be all, and always, well informed. The part which is
wrong will be discontented, in proportion to the importance of the facts
they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions,
it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty. ...
And what country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not
warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of
resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as
to the facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost
in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from
time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
    It is its natural manure."

While I appreciate the article I have to mention that when we read things we "like" or agree with it is important to check the facts still. For instance, the information of Switzerland is not entirely correct. They do not issue every household a gun and train them. Not everyone has a gun there. Eligible men for 10 years are issued a rifle and may choose to keep it after their reserve term is up (after it is modified to no longer be full auto capable).

Additionally, I'd like to point out that citing their crime statistics on a "carry" forum seems fairly counter-productive since they are very limited in who they issue a carry permit to at all, usually only people working security etc. Touting Switzerland as the example is giving ammo to those who seek to deny us our right to carry outside of our homes.

I didn't check all the facts in the article but I would not be surprised to see other information that is either inaccurate. Quick search for information shows this was around at least 3 years ago with the same "figures" or similar snopes.com: Australian Guns Stats

If we want to use logic to convince others our views are correct we need to hold ourselves to a higher standard and verify the information we read before using it or perpetuating it. Just because it's on the internet and we like what it has to say does not make it true. Trust but verify I believe is the saying.

    Point taken. Thank you.

  11. Point well taken, which is why I do not solely rely on snoops along, they have been wrong and inaccurate in the past.
