Chicago - the new gun capital of the USA?

From this story it sounds to me like it took all of 2 months for this man to get his gun permit.

Gun owners: Permit process not exactly as fast as a speeding bullet

Perhaps the permit application should have asked this question:

"After you receive your gun permit and obtain a weapon, you should:

    1. give the gun to your children to play with.

    2. Pose for a picture with your gun for the Chicago Tribune (btw - the picture was removed from the site about 10:15 pm EST) and have the Chicago Tribune print your full name so everyone in Chicago will know you own a gun.

    3. practice, practice, practice."

And let's not forget, the permit is not even to carry; it only allows you to possess handguns.
As for it being illegal to use a firearm to scare off a garage or car burglar, WTF?! Why is it illegal to display a firearm to a criminal (which, by the way, doesn't kill or injure him) to stop him from taking your things?
Even in the wake of the Supreme Court's ruling, Chicago still has the nation's worst gun laws. I would NEVER live there.
Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both.

Yes, and yet another example why Chicago is a go to hell place.

Thumbs down Chicago, where crime is a Daly problem.

I guess we'll have to move this thread to the "Religion and Guns" forum.

Thank the looney liberal left anti-gun law making tyrants like Daley...
The Bill of Rights means nothing, the way they see it...

As far as the article w/ picture and name goes, he decided to stand up and be counted. More should follow his lead... Hiding like sheep and taking what the master allows you to have is pathetic...
You can give peace a chance alright..

I'll seek cover in case it goes badly..

    Scariest lines in the article:

"The city appears to be making good on its promise to quickly process incoming applications for firearms permits. But it still lags in creating an accessible database intended to let police know where the firearms are being kept."

As Australians and Canadians know, registration is preparation for confiscation.

Hey, I'm the author of that quote! Gonna put it in Wikipedia as "Islander's Law".

I like it and will use it (with permission) and quote you as the author...

    I'll add mine...

"Those willing to compromise their freedom for the moment will have none of it by days end"...

It is now in Wikipedia, so it must be a real law!

Someone keeps deleting Islander's Law, so I'll make it my signature and spread it that way.
