In a way, it almost seems as if America needs a fresh start. With all the trillions of dollars in debt, ridicules laws being passed without popular opinion being considered and the fact that NAFTA has been allowed to stay in effect without much of any kind of intensive to keep jobs here in the states...Things are already headed toward the direction of complete and total socialism, or complete and total collapse.
Sad to see things go this way, and hell, Im still so young, and again, in a way, seems like collapse would help us out in one strange way or another...Just sayin...

My fear is for my children more than for me. I'm just over the 50yd line in life so for me its the future that will be the reality for my kids and their kids. I want for them simply an opportunity to live with freedom, happiness, and little if any fear...

So perhaps a full reset and IMPL would make for a good fix... I can't be sure that starting over would bring them what I wish, but if it would help at all I'd be willing...
You can give peace a chance alright..

I'll seek cover in case it goes badly..

The only thing we really need to get back to is taking responsibly for our own actions and holding elected officials responsible for theirs. We have elected people into office that should have never been allowed into office. Look at all the wall street people who committed fraud how many are in jail? We have not held the elected officials feet to the fire when they F up. Instead we allow them to get put into another position where they have less chance to F things up. The army soldiers who get their orders from high above in Guantanamo bay none of the top leaders got in trouble just the low level army grunts. For the last twenty years the rich and powerful have been doing things that they should have been held accountable for.

But we don't have much to worry about as most of the ignorant Americans have gone back to living beyond their means. For not many have had good parents that taught them not to spend more money then you make. So while gas will go up to $5 a gallon people will just go back to riding the bus to get to where they are going. As our elected officials have said the only way to get out of this hole is to spend our way out of it and worry about the debt when it comes due.

People in the City can ride the Bus. I was in Europe and have seen the Rail System and how it is possible to do things without a Car, the USA is too spread out to have such a system. The Fuel Prices keep going up and the Trucks carrying your Food will have to stop. Owner Operators are barely keeping their heads above the water now. Someone needs to repair the Rail System across the USA, without it everything will come to a stop. A Train can carry the same load for 1/2 the Fuel that a Truck will use. A Politician is a person that will tell you what you want to hear. They are in it for the money. They are not rich when they get into office, but they are when they leave office. How can someone spend Millions of dollars, of their own money, to get re elected to a part time Job that pays $175,000/year.

I watched a documentary called "Fall of the Republic" a few months back. There is also another called "The Obama Deception" that is worth watching. I am by no means a conspiracy theorist but these two films will make you think. They show who is behind the current state of the economy and the how and why.

Something has to be done to keep the cost down, I have my Health Ins and Medicare, the Veteran's have the VA, but everyone else is loosing every thing that they own and are still not able to pay the costs. Something has to be done. The Republicans need to make suggestions on how to fix the Health Plan Sys, but instead they are stupidly going to try to throw the whole thing out. All they are doing is ensuring that the sitting President will get another four years. Everyone of the people in Washington or looking out for themselves and not for the Country or the People.
Health costs would not be so high if we had torte reform.

I appreciate all the posts. Most are mentioning one area that needs fixing.

I don't have a good feeling for our country. The problem is that our elected officials, all of them, aren't doing the hard things that need to be done. We have too many entitlements and they don't have the b*lls to cut them. They don't have the b*lls to cut out major Gov Programs. They don't have the b*lls to return to the principles of the Constitution. The fact that it was read for the first time in Congress a few weeks ago should tell you something. They are only interested in getting elected for the next term. and the power trip they get from being in Congress. Most of the bills that are passed today (including entitlements) are legalized vote buying. ObamaCare is just a new entitlement and means of getting votes. Legalizing "undocumented citizens" (to be politically correct), is vote buying.

I sense that the time of our country is coming to an end. Most major world powers since the Roman Empire only last about 200 years and we're well beyond that.

I urge you watch Chris Martensen's Crash Course. He's an economist. He scared the c*ap out of me. He woke me up. His basic premise is that the next 20 years are going to be very different than the previous 20 years. Four major issues that aren't being dealt with - 1) energy, 2) population growth, 3) world debt, 4) climate. You can find it here - The Crash Course - Chris Martenson - chapters, Crash Course, Economy, Energy, environment, Peak Oil, videos, what should I do There are 20 videos taking a total of 3 hours and 23 minutes. Watch one at a time and think about it. Then watch another. I took a week to watch them.

They scared me enough that I now have a XDM 45 for self defense. And I'm learning how to use it. I'll be getting a Remington 870 Tactical shotgun soon. And I'm considering some sort of bolt action rifle. I'm not storing food. Yet. I'm soon moving to a very safe, defensible community. Just be prepared for the worse that can happen.

I have no idea what it going to be the trip wire. There are many. And it is likely to happen fast. Days or weeks and the We the People are history.

Sadly, we all see civil unrest, and eventually a collapse of our system as we know it today. Many things will contribute to it, and Obamacare is just one of the small issues, the fact that illegal immigration isnt being delt with in the ways it should shows that our politicians dont give two sh*ts about this country, all they care about is passing more laws that restricts us even more, they look at ways to get rich, and sadly, allowing illegals to come here just allows them more taxes, and even more laws.
I dont have many self defense weapons, and sadly, I now live in Flint, deemed to be the "murder capital of America" so civil unrest here is really the only thing I have to worry about heh. But thats why Smith and Wesson keep me safe.
Anyhow. I like reading all of your thoughts, keep them comming =]

Its, I can appreciate your distress...however think about in in terms of history which will always repeat. One third was for the Revolution and on third was Against it and on third could give a flying rats ass. We have become a great nation because of it. Hang in there. When a liberal brings a Knife you bring a gun.... words spoken by the community organizer.

  11. This post should more properly be titled, "The Collapse of the Global Financial System", where the US is the printer of the world's reserve currency. The US, China and EU are in a currency war, and it's the third world that lives on subsistence rations who are going to suffer the worst. We are living in an economic age of micro-bubbles, and it's only a matter of time before one busts and sets of a chain of cascading events that causes one of the three economic super powers to collapse, dragging down the other two. It's also possible the Fed's plan to export inflation will work, for a time.

Here's the chain of events thus far. The housing bubble caused the mortgage debt crisis, which morphed into a sovereign debt crisis, that has turned into a current currency war. Commodities inflation is going to cause a lot pain to a lot of people, who are rioting in Tunisia and Algeria (I looked, they're both on the Mediterranean coast of Africa, in a temperate climate, go figure, must be the high population density), there's still the sovereign debt issues in the EU, who are rioting in various capital cities over their government's austerity programs.

It's all those little bubbles that are the problem. Take your pick, there's local and state budgets, pension funds, but public and private, but the federal government is on the hook for the private funds, there's unemployment, a second housing decline, we never got out of the first recession, demographic dynamics that will escalate Social Security and Medicare spending, rising health care costs, etc, etc, etc.

None of these issues, in and of itself will cause a bubble to burst, but the aggregate of these almost certainly will, and we have a kleptocracy whom we continually re-elect to public office at the state and federal levels. The latter is the reason there has been no effective response to any of these issues, and in fact, is the root cause of much if it. Public spending has crowded out the private economy, causing high unemployment, wages have been stagnant in the US for thirty years, and the wealth gap is as high or higher than during the 1920's and 30's. The difficulty is marshalling an effective response to any of these issues because of all the vested interests. So, are we doomed to collapse? The answer is maybe, or maybe not, if we can successfully wind down public services and federal spending. However, it's also not very likely, but the end result is going to be either an orderly decline or a collapse. Neither of which is going to sit well with constituents, because either is going to cause much higher unemployment rates.

When basic needs are no longer being met, is when civil unrest is going to occur. We're already seeing riots overseas. We could see some isolated incidences potentially on the scale of the Los Angeles riots in 1991 after the Rodney King verdict. Crime rates are almost a certainty to increase. A good description of what could happen was written by a guy named FerFal about the Argentinian collapse in 2002.

The best thing anyone can do to prepare is a number of things. The most important is keeping a 2 - 3 weeks supply of food in the house, 2 -3 months would be even better. Just look at the expiration date of items you use every day, and rotate your stock. Water filters, like the Big Berkey, and 5 gallon water cans for storage. And of course, personal defence, which doesn't have to be elaborate. Koreans in LA held off rioters with hand guns. If you can survive the first few weeks of a breakdown in civil order, your chances of long term survival dramatically increase.

Love you guys, be safe out there.
