In 2005, the Senate passed a clean bill, S. 397, which became law; Senator Santorum not only voted for but cosponsored this bill.

At this time, I do not have a preferred candidate but will speak out to correct the record whenever necessary, regardless of which candidate is involved.
Santorum remains a RINO, and S.397 is not truly as clean a bill as advertised...

    S.397.ENR (became Public Law 109-92 on 10/26/2005.)
Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (Enrolled Bill [Final as Passed Both House and Senate] - ENR)

Here is what Gun Owners of America warned us about after the Senate passage...

While the Senate passed S. 397 with two gun control provisions, the House bill (H.R. 800) remained free and clear of any gun control. Unfortunately, more than 100 Representatives -- many of them pro-gun -- were led to believe that the Senate bill would be acceptable. So they signed a pre-written letter to the House leadership, asking them to bring up the anti-gun Senate version!

    Dear Representative:

I hope that you will do everything in your power to encourage the House leadership to ditch S. 397 and use its own bill, H.R. 800, instead.

    S. 397 takes us dangerously close to mandatory trigger locks, and mandatory trigger locks kill. Just ask Mary Carpenter, who has had to live with the fact that two of her grandchildren were killed in 2000, because no one in the house could disengage the gun locking device that kept the family from protecting themselves against a pitchfork wielding thug.

People in the home had been trained with firearms and knew how to use them. There was just one problem: the guns were locked up in compliance with California state law.

Mary Carpenter will tell you -- as she has already told several legislatures across the country -- don't encourage trigger locks... dont require them... just stay away from them. Trigger locks kill!

Please tell the Speaker and the Majority Leader of the House that S. 397 is unacceptable to gun owners. Instead, send H.R. 800 to the Senate so that we can have a CLEAN bill.

    ...

    As you stated Senator Santorum
voted for this... Legislation Containing Two Gun Control Measures... AKA compromises on the Second Amendment...

    NOT A CLEAN BILL...

Gun Owners Of America - "ACTION: Please use the pre-written letter below to help direct your contact to the Hill. Please ask your Representative to oppose S. 397 and to insist upon H.R. 800, which contains no gun control."

Concur with your observation, but WE must maintain vigilance. WE can make a difference. Tenacity comes to mind.

I do agree with Ron Paul as well with Allen West as VP.

It should be pointed out that regardless of who gets elected President, whether it be a Republican, Independent, or Libertarian, that he/she must be a conservative. And regardless, even if the President is conservative, if we don't also elect a conservative majority in both houses, nothing changes. And even if we do get a conservative President and a conservative majority in both houses, the 14 trillion dollar debt is still there, and still impossible to pay back. No election in 2012 is going to save our country. Ignorance is not bliss, ignorance is the the most violent element in our society to destroy us. We have met the enemy, and we are it.
