"Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself. They are the American people's liberty teeth and keystone under independence ... From the hour the Pilgrims landed, to the present day, events, occurrences, and tendencies prove that to insure peace, security and happiness, the rifle and pistol are equally indispensable . . . the very atmosphere of firearms everywhere restrains evil interference - they deserve a place of honor with all that is good" (George Washington)

Thanks for that post, it was great. I think I might change the 2007s to 2008s and share it elsewhere if you don't mind.

+1. In this day and age I would not send a dog to public school much less a child. Public school is = to child abuse. Just my 2 cents worth.

  8. I graduated High School in a very small town in Sothern IL.(dark blue state). It was no big deal to bring a gun to school. One time I even saw a student carrying a handgun in a holster. It was a small country town where everybody knew everybody and nobody cared. My history teacher was a gun collector and would bring in a new gun about once a week to show the students who were interested. It's a shame, but I'm sure it's completely different now.

How sad but true. I went through high school with a shotgun and a 22 rifle in the gun rack of my pickup. I don't even remember ever locking the doors. It was never a problem, and there were 50 other pickups the same way in the parking lot. That was only 35 years ago.( wow....that just made me feel old). I hope that you don't mind, but I Changed the dates to 1976 and 2008 and e-mailed it to most of my e-mail list. They say that plagiarism is the greatest form of flattery:icon_wink:

Hell in 1987 I got a spanking in school. I even got slapped in the face by a teacher who lost her temper when I was in first grade and all they did was ove me to another class. There was no police, no therapy and no law suit.

I just turned 32 so it has gotten really bad in alot less time than some may think.
