One way to diminish our debt is to stop financially helping other countries who are not friendly to the US. Do you know we "owe" China but we also help them financially? How stupid is that??!?!!?!?!??? If the government will compute the financial help we give to China from the time they start giving money to them, maybe it will even be more than what we owe to that country.

This pullout is a result of a failed diplomacy by the BO Administration. He and the State Department have hurt the US around the world. It is only going to add to the unrest and problems in the Middle East.

Yep. We can "cut the military" to the quick and put them on the unemployment lines too. Brilliant!

Actually the Winter War was fought between Finland and the Soviet Union at the begining of the second world war. When the Finns joined into the fighting along with the Germans, they referred to the war as "The Continuation War".

Incidently, IF we were so foolish to completly dismantle the Defence Establishment (ending the wars and semi-wars incidental to THAT) we would ONLY be left with a half trillion or so deficit per year to "worry" about.

We BORROW 40% of our annual overall Government operating expenses. The vast majority of our overall spending is in "entitlements" of one type or another.

Our "National debt" (on which we pay interest on, to the tune of nearly 400 Billion a year..... and will only remain true as long as our "credit rating" remains high enough to where we do NOT have to raise the interest rates higher to entice "buyers" for our debt as an offset for the additional "risk") will NEVER "go away" until such time as we, first, balance the budget, which would preclude from having to add that deficit to the grand total (and it IS grand, indeed) year to year. Second, make "retirement" of the outstanding debt part and parcel of the annual budget. (IF we ever manage to actually put together an actual budget again in my lifetime. We've gone three years now with continuing resolutions..... read: Same spending levels as before, give or take a little by circumstances.)

Meanwhile, the committee of twelve languishes in the limbo of silence.... and the "deadline" is only but few weeks away. Anyone making "book" on the likelihood that anything worthy of note is going to be accomplished?

We have allowed current events to distract us from the most serious ongoing "crisis" our Country faces. Our debt levels which only continue to escalate (Thanks, Obama!). While deficits under Bush grew alarmingly, His Majestic Messiahness has tripled down the annual levels of same and absolutely refuses to temper the spending in any meaningful manner.

At present, the Dollar is holding it's own in comparison to other hitherto "strong" currencies world wide. We can thank our lucky stars for that. It's merely a matter of having the cleanest dirty shirt in the clothes hamper at present. We keep going the way we are and soon we will find that we are not so clean after all, in comparison.

Then again, it just might turn out that the Western Style of Government(s) may ALL go down together in a world wide depression. (There are any number of Nations that would be most happy to see just that happen, you know.)

Of course we could simply "default" on our debt. Except that most of that debt is right here in the US, we would only be stiffing ourselves. (Like the 2.6 Trillion or so that the Gov't "owes" the Social Security "Fund".)

Around 20-25% of the "debt" is held overseas.... major "players" China, Japan, UK, Euro zone (In that order). With the exception of China (whom I consider only a friend of convenience) all we would hurt with a "default" play would be our allies and friends.... OH... and ourselves.

We are financially screwed, fiscally inept at the Government level and if we don't pull our collective heads out of certain dark places REAL soon......

Well, the prognosis is NOT good and the resultant social upheaval will NOT be pretty. Not a very auspicious end for the "shining light on the hill".

It's too late to pull our heads out of the dark, the damage ($14 soon to be $16 trillion debt) is already done. The only thing holding back the New World Order and a "Global Currency" is the U.S. Dollar. There are no mistakes in politics, the devalue of our dollar and the total collapse of our economy is the NWO/GLOBAL AGENDA. It's inevitable and necessary for America's place of assimilation into this GLOBAL AGENDA. Henry Kissinger (former Secretary of State & a Builderberger) has stated that BHO was groomed long before he was elected President, to be the "architect" to implement the conditions necessary to subject America's assimilation into the NWO. There are only two views/explanations for what is currently happening today in the U.S. & the world, the secular and the Biblical. Be it the secular world agenda or the plan of God as prophesied in the Bible, both coincide and project that "everything of old must fall apart in order for everything new to come together". Take your pick.
