Unless 822 addresses the federal gun free school zones carrying in any other state than you are licensed in is a problem even with 822 Rustell, agreed to carry the 2nd amendment should be all we need anywhere in the US.

    Does this not cover that?

‘‘(b) The possession or carrying of a concealed hand-
gun in a State under this section shall be subject to the
    same conditions
and limitations, except as to eligibility to
possess or carry, imposed by or under Federal or State
law or the law of a political subdivision of a State, that
apply to the possession or carrying of a concealed handgun
by residents of the State or political subdivision who are
licensed by the State or political subdivision to do so, or
not prohibited by the State from doing so.

  6. Just read that the bill is heading to the floor on Tuesday the 15th of November. Get it passed then fine tune. Start thinking outside the box.

Our gun rights were lost a little at a time and 822 will reverse the trend and help restore our gun rights. It is a PRO-GUN law and is a positive step. Support it! Regarding the school zone issue read the ENTIRE law and pay attention to section 3(b) which reads "A person carrying a concealed handgun under this section shall be permitted to carry a handgun subject to the SAME CONDITIONS or limitations that apply to residents of the State who have permits issued by the State or are otherwise allowed to do so by the State". A lawyer friend who specializes in gun-law agrees that this paragraph will superceed the 'same state permit requirement' of the FEDERAL school zone law.

Does this mean it will include Killinois too? Do you know when this will take effect?

Doesn't it still have to go through the senate and then to the president to pass into law?

  11. CORRECTION: House vote was on ‘consideration’ of HR 822Dave Workman, Seattle Gun Rights Examiner 11/15/2011 7:36 PM
CORRECTION : This column reported earlier Tuesday evening that the House had passed HR 822.

    That was in error.

What actually happened was a vote on the rule to provide for a hearing and debate on HR 822. That was the 271-153 vote, with no Republicans voting against House Resolution 463 , which provides for consideration of HR 822 .

This column apologizes to readers and regrets the error.
