As far as buying a new striker need I remind CA residents that you guys are not allowed certain magazine types and sellers cannot send you one via interstate commerce such as post office. Soon all the parts of the gun will be considered "the Firearm" and require background checks unless something is done in the 2014 election.

Nobody has mentioned that criminals already grind off serial numbers on gun so what makes these IDIOTS think the criminals won't do that with a micro stamp, regardless of what part of the gun it's on????

It is disheartening to see this.
We in NY have been fending off micro stamping for years.
It was disheartening then to hear alleged gun owners dismiss it as a crime fighting tool.
It is nothing more than a de facto ban.
The gun manufacturers had better say to the state, We are not going to implement this on our firearms.
Yes we understand that our product will no longer be allowed for sale in your state.
So tell your police officers that they had better take extra special care of the semi autos they are using now because they are going to have to last them a long time.

If they comply, shame on them.

On a side note: Is anyone else noticing an increase in trolls.

Yes and yes and some old trolls have returned.
If it doesn't fit, FORCE it! If it breaks then it needed to be replaced anyway.

Micro Stamping - explained for morons.

    From a gun collector's prospective.
    Gun Grabber's prospective
    A. The manufacturers have to purchase the tooling - install - train all of which is added expense.
Gun Grabber's prospective If you are a socialist you expect them to just eat the cost and give it away.
    B. The manufacturers will pass the cost on to the wholesalers by maybe only 10 dollars per gun
Gun Grabber's prospective good like adding an extra tax and the politicians that passed the bill get donations from the company that is pushing this.
    C. Retailers will have extra records to keep John Jones bought gun with Micro Stamp number 23494959395030204034020402040540503482308122843028
    address phone email etc.
Gun Grabber's prospective BAM we now have a registration list for all handguns (the ultimate goal of the anti's)
    D. The price of older semi auto's and revolvers just went up!
Gun Grabber's prospective good only the wealthy should have firearms anyway.
    E. 10 years go by, No crimes have been solved through micro stamping.
Gun Grabber's prospective we need a new law to confiscate all non micro stamped guns and then we can start solving crimes.

Naive gun owners who don't see a problem with micro stamping, or mag capacity restrictions or expanded background checks or an ammunition registration process scratch their arse and say "ahucka ahucka whaaaa happened?"

The low information voter will eat most anything they are fed from the progressive liberal main stream media. When they hear crime will be brought under control with micro stamping, they believe this to be true. By the time they discover this is more smoke and mirrors from the left, they will have yet another, "How'd that happen" moment.

    .

I remember over the last year and a half or so, you and I in particular posting warnings every time garbage like NY Bill A.1157 (microstamping semi-auto handguns) would come up. There were a few disheartening responses back then too, usually from the same poster, always poo-pooing concerns because "the Senate will squash the legislation". What worried me then was the day when the NY Senate would no longer be Republican controlled. Well, that day happened (turns out microstamping was the least of the problems).

Yep, trolls (some of them Cuomo/Bloomberg shills maybe ?) coming out of the woodwork, not only on this board, but a couple of other gun boards as well.

    And the trolling continues.

Even if manufacturers implement this, as long as the bad guy polices his brass police will STILL be forced to track him down using exactly the same tools they have at their disposal right now. Nothing will change. This is a simple attempt to make California compliant firearms so expensive as to implement a de facto ban on them.

Or simply replace them with firing pins obtained out of state.

    Oh, wait.

To prevent this, California will require California compliant firing pins as well, which will only fit in California compliant firearms. Which will further drive up the cost of California compliant firearms, which brings us right back to implementing a de facto ban on firearms.
