Yeah, y'all really should read the comments section. It's just hhis feed from FaceBook, and since I don't do FB, I can't (and don't want to) participate, but like Axe said, it's very good reading. I even turned off my anti-tracking (Ghostery) plugin long enough to take it all in.

If a Conservative said that about a liberal, the DHS would be knocking on our doors.

It's an add-on for Firefox. They might make it for other browsers, not sure, but it prevents (most) ads, trackers, cookies, behavioral data providers, web publishers - all companies interested in your activity, from getting that info without you knowing it. A couple of the most proficient tracking sites on the web are Google+ and FaceBook, and Google Analytics and Google Adsense are mostly responsible for targeted ads that pertain to your web surfing. If you visit gun sites and search Amazon and eBay for gun-related accessories etc., the ads on YouTube and in gmail and anywhere else that has them installed on their site as a revenue stream targets your IP address with gun-related ads.

Anyway, if you run Firefox, you can get Ghostery here. I have a decent high-speed connection. If yours is slow or sluggish, it will slow your surfing down considerably. It's still worth it though when you think about the implications of leaving your browsing open to prying eyes.

Back on-topic, man, I read through so many of the comments my eyes are bleeding! But it is as universally-negative to the "editorial" as any comments section I've ever seen. It is actually kind of encouraging, even for this devoted cynic. There were lots of good ones, and narrowing it down to only *one* to post here was difficult, but this one exposes not only the idiocy of the "professor" (!!!), but also exposes his duplicity and hypocrisy quite well:

Goodness, this Swindell fellow has a hard time making up his mind. On the 14th of May he wrote an op-ed that basically details how the government is grinding our Constitutional rights into a fine powder. He even invoked the book 1984 to drive home his point that the malevolent specter of totalitarianism is just around the corner. Fast forward a few weeks, and he's foaming at the mouth because a good share of his fellow citizens feel...exactly like he did two weeks ago!

Two weeks ago, he said, "The Founders knew the power of unchecked government personally. They wrote protections into living documents so we could remain a free people. Now some Harvard law graduate with a god complex is snooping around my communications and I don't even know it. And nobody cares? Worse, I have no recourse?"

Now, he says, "We put the president in the White House. To support the new NRA president's agenda of arming the populace for confrontation with the government is bloody treason. And many invite it gladly as if the African-American president we voted for is somehow infringing on their Constitutional rights."

Classic liberal cognitive dissonance. "Obama is trampling my rights and I have no recourse!" "People who oppose Obama are traitors who should put against a wall and shot!" He must be tenured, as I can't imagine someone so dim-witted would be able to keep his job otherwise.

Oh what the heck, I can't resist posting another salient one. This one proves that he based his whole rant on a satire piece about the N R A's supposed call for armed insurrection that came from a site similar to The Onion. And this guy is a "journalism professor!" Hilarious!

Nevermind, I found out where he is getting his alleged quote from. It is from the Free Woods Post article about Mr Porter. What Mr. Swindell fails to realize is the the "FWP" is like The Onion -- all satire as was the article he is pulling his information from.

You can bet your bottom dollar on that! Like the CSI actress who stated that NRA members should be gunned down. Well, this is one NRA member that they can come after if they really want to. Should be interesting.
