Mo. gov. vetoes bill that nullified fed #gun laws #JayNixon #anti2a

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) "Gov. Jay Nixon vetoed legislation Friday that would have made it a Missouri crime for federal agents to attempt to enforce federal gun laws in the state and could have landed journalists in jail for publishing the names of gun owners.

The Democratic governor said the bill passed by the Republican-led Legislature violated the supremacy clause of the U.S. Constitution, which generally gives preference to federal laws over conflicting state ones. He said it also infringed in the First Amendment rights of free speech and press."

You know what they say about Democratic Governors and Mayors: "They never saw an individual freedom they didn't think was wrong." Or, "They never saw an individual's right that wasn't better exercised by government."
-----This was entirely expected. This kind of reminds me of all the arguments on the state level when there was a push there to enact "marriage only between a man and a woman." The Democrats and Moderate Republicans poo-pooed the need for that as a waste of time since there was DOMA on the Federal level. So what happens, the Supremes come in and invalidate the Federal statute saying the State statutes take precedence. How's that working out now for those states that bought into that?
-----Then the LGETC came in and got state laws allowing any critter to marry whoever they want. And, in the beginning, these same people were saying all they wanted was a "civil union" that granted their partner status. They didn't need it to be "marriage", as long as they could legally have the same rights as married people. As soon as states started granting them civil unions, it wasn't enough; they wanted actual marriage. And those states that weren't proactive enough to protect themselves with the "marriage law definition" are stuck!
-----The same thing is going to happen with 2nd Amendment protections. Those states that did not protect themselves before this latest round of anti-gun laws by enacting strong state freedoms and protections against Feds anti-gun laws will be in the same boat as California, etc. that voted to prevent gay marriage only to have the Supremes say the state Supremes had jurisdiction and could rule the Constitutional Amendment was "illegal."
