JPFO: Why Gun Owners Are Right to Fight Against Gun Control

In April, the Senate rejected the Toomey-Manchin gun control proposal. In the wake of its defeat many asked why gun owners and their organizations resisted so limited a measure. Granted, it would have had little but symbolic benefit. Its core was to require background checks at gun shows (which Bureau of Justice Statistics concluded involved a whole 0.8 percent of crime guns) and on Internet gun sales (a miniscule proportion, most of which probably go through licensed dealers anyway). But why not accept something so modest, in light of the draconian ideas then being floated as alternatives?

Understanding the rejection requires understanding gun owners' shared experiences. Compromise requires that both parties relinquish something. If your counterpart's position is "give me this now, and I'll take the rest later," there is no real compromise to be had. Over decades, that has been precisely the experience of American gun owners.

The progressives are all about control and the collective under a socialist Utopia. I am watching my country being destroyed from within by the progressives and Obama, a man who has never contributed anything to this country. So many have given their lives to build the U.S. and it is now being destroyed by those who have invested nothing in its success and greatness. I will never give up my liberty to these evil people and "go quietly into the night". I have absolutely no desire to just survive under a totalitarian socialist state. The remedy for all of our problems can be found in our two founding documents written by great men and inspired by God. The second amendment was meant to be the last resort, and only the last resort, and ultimate defense against a tyrant. If the defense of liberty is subversive and crazy, I'll plead guilty..

Because we have learned the hard way that when you simply give in to the antis they immediately come back with more demands. However, when you fight them tooth and nail even if they win they need time to regroup and resupply before their next attack. Therefore, CONCEDE NOTHING, COMPROMISE NOTHING, FIGHT ALL ATTEMPTS AT ANY KIND OF GUN CONTROL!!!!!

That article must be for the newbies. Every other gun owner should have been well aware of that long ago. Those that missed it are so insulated from reality that no amount of articles would help.

GUN CONTROL is a misnomer, the individual that coined the phrase didn't know how to spell "CONFISCATION" and figured no one would know the difference anyway.
