Thumbs up Waking a Sleeping Giant in Colorado

Two weeks ago, the Washington Post declared the recall elections of two powerful state senators in Colorado a national “referendum on guns.” Indeed, the defeat of state-senate president John Morse and fellow state senator Angela Giron will cause some Democrats to rethink their push on gun control.

Colorado is really having a ripple effect. Even in California, I think it's got the politicos spooked.

I really hope that the Colorado vote has an effect. The problem is that the progressives will never recognize the flaws in their arguments. They continue with agenda no matter what truth contradicts them. After the Naval Yard shootings all of the media outlets, including Fox, were speculating as to where he got the assault rifle that he used and if it was purchased with a background check The problem was that he didn't have an assault rifle. He used a shotgun and a Glock that was stolen from security. There are still people in the media talking about assault rifles. Progressives are the most closed minded people in this country; and their followers are usually too stupid to know what's going on.

To be fair to the media, the reporting of it being an AR to start with came from persons on scene who were shot at and the police. The continued reporting of it after it was proven not to be the case was and is disingenuous by the media. Many of the civilians there would not be able to tell the difference between an AR and a tactical shotgun in the brief period of time that they would have seen it.

The media does the same thing with stories on virtually every act of violence involving a fire arm. There is a mad rush to get the story out to the public even if it is mostly incorrect. Once an inaccurate story is released it is impossible to correct in the minds of the targeted audience. This irresponsible reporting is extremely damaging but of course the media doesn't care about the harm done. As long as the deadline is met, the damage done is of no consequence.

Sen. Tochtrop was right. I still remember the Assault Weapon Ban of 1994 and the results of the national elections of November of that year.

The problem with all the hope because of the recall is that Congress is not going to get to vote on gun control. If you listened to Obama's speech over the weekend, you know that he is setting the stage to institute serious restrictions on the second amendment by executive order. The news media will support him and the court system and Congress will be too cowardly to stop him. And when the confiscation starts too few people will object; they will find themselves alone facing the full power of government. The people standing for the Constitution will be classified as criminals; and their sacrifices will he classified as the actions of the criminally insane. I used to think that the country was composed of about 200 million sheep. I have now decided that the number's closer to 300 million. When it comes to a solution; I don't have the slightest idea.

In the history of mankind it is slavery to tyrants that's the norm. Freedom is one of the least common situations that has ever existed. And the very few instances where liberty did exist, it has been only for a brief moment. Sometimes opposing ignorance and lies on such a colossal scale, as is now evident in this country, seems to be an impossibility.

So, how long do you guys think this battle will remain non-violent? Eventually, one side is going to say enough... and resort to "the continuation of politics be other means"... or something to that effect, that Von Clausewitz said.

The people in certain areas of this country will resist tyranny. The government will respond with violence that make Assad look like an amature. This government, with a few exceptions, has been a force for good in the world. But if the U.S. ever moves to the dark side, God help the world's population. Look around you at what this country is becoming. If might quote Shakespeare, " Something wicked this way comes." And it's name is progressivism.
