This vote, held on March 23, 2013, was about a budget bill not arms control. The UN arms control was added as a rider and everyone knew in advance that it would not pass and was voted on along party lines.

Kind of like the House voting almost 40 times to repeal AHA, aka ObamaCare, it looks good to your People back home, especially at election time, but it doesn't really amount to anything.

Like others have posted, since this bill had a treaty item as a rider it had to have 2/3s of the votes "Yea" to pass which everyone knew it would never get.

Now all the Senators that voted "Yea" or "Nay" can get up on their soapbox during reelection time and proudly claim to their voters that "I voted "X" for a bill that would ___________ ( fill in the blank ).

Some people, like Navy Seal, are so simple minded that they are very easy to fool.

So where are the lies Sten? The vote was allowed by Reid to see if he had enough votes to back a full vote of the Senate. If the Dems had won on this it would have come before the Senate by now.
