I guess I knew this, but never saw it in such graphic form. That isn't the change expected.

For Obama to keep his low information base in his pocket he must create as much devastation as he can. Then he will ride in on his white horse, blame someone else for the train wreck (Bush, Tea Party, republicans, Fox News) and save the day. His low information base will not blame him for the train wreck, he will be the hero and life goes on. The democrats and main stream news media will praise him for his insight. All hail King Obama!

The problem, Oldgrunt, is that you're trying to use logic and facts again. This type of factual argument just confuses the majority of those who voted for Obama. Employment and self-reliance are also concepts that have little meaning to most of this class of idiot voters. Now if you just promise them more "free stuff" they'll understand.

I don't think it's the change that anybody expected. Or wanted. But I've never seen a president who so totally alienated the other party as he has. He seems to do the all things that he knows will piss off republicans the most. I think all those golfing days are spent thinking up what will make conservatives the maddest. So far, so good.

Right now I'm not happy with either party. I consider myself to be a Constitutional Conservative with strong Libertarian leanings. I usually feel betrayed by almost every politician in whom I have put my trust. I love my country, but hate most of those claiming to represent the people and then proceed betray their constituents and the Constitution.

We no longer have representatives who are public servants. Now we have political hacks who believe that they are our rulers and superiors. In actuality those in congress are not intellectually or morally even my equal or the equal of most on this forum. They feel that somehow they rule by "devine right" like medieval nobility. They are for the most part dishonest, dishonorable, and amoral. They are unable to govern this country and in many cases even their own behavior. My low opinions of those in Washington is now being confirmed by events on a daily basis. Does anyone believe that the founders of our republic would be proud of what this government has become?

The only thing I could add to what you said is this. Many who go into politics have failed in the private sector or was to lazy to work. They believe they are entitled to power and resent the fact that they have to depend on us pee-ons to get them elected.

I have found VERY few who are worthy. The few who are worthy are attacked by everyone including their own party.

This is the "devine right" of which Buckeye references above and where we find our country today: Harkening back to the early 1800's, Robert Owen emphasized communal living and Henri de Saint-Simon coined the term, "socialism". Saint-Simon advocated a technocratic form of socialism in which "experts" would be called upon to manage various aspects of society with scientific rigor and eschew political favoritism. Saint-Simon's writings of course advocated for the perfectability of man vis-a-vis his individual fallen nature. Socialism as theorized is supposed to result in a less stratified society but always results in the exact opposite where the weathy and powerful subjugate those in less influencial positions. The experts now manage but at a cost seemingly only noticed by patriots, conservative historians, and individuals that truly understand the fallability of men unrestrained. Our elected officials moral turpitude is beyond pale and a country is in serious trouble when it's leaders (especially the President) so blatantly lie to the public.

The founders would be ashamed of us for letting the "experts" take away our freedom, property, and religious/moral underpinnings.

Socialism historically never has worked and due to human nature never will work. It will continue to collapse under it's own weight of freeloaders. That doesn't stop those that strive to create utopia. To them it hasn't worked in the past because the wrong people where in charge and they didn't spend enough money in the right places. Truth is it won't work in the future because the wrong people will still be in charge and they still won't spend enough money in the right places. There will however be plenty of freeloaders to pile on.

The only way to correct this massive state of corruption in Washington is to have term limits, that way the lobbyists can't get their talons into there backsides.

    Howdy Oldgrunt,

There's a couple of tactical flaws in your OP.

    Mainly the unemployment rate.

Under Clinton and Lil' George a person could only draw unemployment for 26 weeks and under Obama you can draw for upto 99 weeks.

Kinda like comparing a peashooter to a 155 Howitzer.

But hey, thanks for the laugh! ;)
