That was the original post. I have read somewhere that over 200,000 people defend themselves each year, women from predators.

The 200,000 is an estimate and is the low number for defensive gun uses per year in general. 2.5 million defensive gun uses is the high number.
These estimates are old and, well, estimates. No one knows for sure, as defensive gun uses are not officially tracked. The OP provides real examples instead.
