Thread: Caravan of Hondurans to cross Mexico and enter the United States

  1. #21
Their numbers were once staggering, with 1.6 million illegal immigrants arriving at our border annually back in 2000. Since 2010, that number has decreased to below 500,000 a year...
    .
Still, none of these travelers followed American law to get here. If they had, they would have spent months in dialogue with their local American embassy or consulate officials to process the appropriate paperwork...
    .
So why don’t they follow the rules? Some are unquestionably criminals. Mexican drug cartels, for instance, make tens of billions of dollars each year in the illicit drug trade. They frequently use children as drug mules to ferry their dangerous cargo across the border and onto America’s streets...
    .
But many other immigrants skip our embassies and consulates because they know they’ll never be granted legal status. The reason is clear: they lack the skills, education and financial stability that would make them attractive additions to the American family...
    .
But still they come. And when they enter our country, studies show that most end up as a net drain on the American economy and government. Indeed, the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine state unequivocally that “first-generation immigrants are more costly to governments than are the native-born.”

  3. Its because they have some silly idea that if they walk 2000 miles with their families they might be safer here than in the place where they're threatened by war and drug lords. You ignore the fact that they have natural rights as well. Namely the natural right to live without fear for their lives. They are following American law by presenting themselves at a border crossing to an American BCP Agent and applying for assylum. That is a legal right they have and is in compliance with US Law. You may not like it, but it is legal and there's nothing you can do about it. The law says nothing about how refugees get to our border, only that they apply there. So long as they do that, they are perfectly legal. But as your post clearly shows you just don't like immigrants.

Also while first generation immigrants and refugees do end up being a drain to a certain extent, those same studies show that over the long term they more than make up for the initial investments society makes for them. In fact a large proportion of immigrants end up becoming small business owners who actually drive employment over the long term.

You say, "Its because they have some silly idea that if they walk 2000 miles with their families they might be safer here than in the place where they're threatened by war and drug lords. .
Then why aren't they requesting asylum in Mexico? They wouldn't have to walk 2,000 miles which threaten their safety and don't have to pay the drug cartels in Mexico thousands of dollars.
    .
Their natural rights as you say doesn't obligate our country to allow enter the US.
    .
Also, the CDC is reporting that 30 states have children coming down with Polio a like illness.
    .
Oh Hell yes, keep the border open you liberal lunatics.

  6. “Their natural rights as you say”
Laws, ordinances, statutes, whatever the country may be... borders, no borders, obligations to a flawed document that I never contractually signed.
    .
The way you stated that says a lot about you and your character.
    .
“Their natural rights as you say“
And then I think about how we invade, set up military bases around the world, as they hold up signs telling the U.S. to get out of their country and leave them alone. But we don’t.
    .
The world is full of hypocrites. You are one of them. That is a sad way to live.

Actually yes we are obligated to take them in as much as we must consider all asylum applications and give them due process by international treaties we've signed and US law

Then why don't they request asylum in Mexico, it's the first country outside of their own they can request it. Answer that.

Since the Democrats are losing the black vote, this is their replacement for them.

Before any of you bleeding heart liberal’s here start crying and tearing your flaming hair out about Trump sending troops down to the border to stop these South American migrants from illegally entering the US, just remember he wasn’t the first to do that. Bush 43 sent 6,000 there in 2006 and Obama sent 1,600 there in 2010.

Does it bother anyone here, looking at the pictures of the thousands of illegal migrants coming through Mexico look like 95% of them are males between the ages of 15 to 30?
