We Need a New Continental Congress

Our nation is under economic recession, social and moral decay, our God-given rights are being taken from us, we are made to fight wars that the people don't want to fight, our currency has been taken off of the gold standard and switched to fiat money, our borders remain open while the People demand them to be closed, we are being slowly merged with other nations to form a North American Union, and all the while our servant government ignores the People's will.

It is the right of the People to petition the government for redress of grievances, and it is the duty of our government to hear the People's wishes and act accordingly. If the government refuses to remedy our grievances, then it is the duty of the People to abolish it and form a new government. Our founding fathers understood this principal while under the tyranny of King George III, so they formed a Continental Congress of elected delegates from each colony. Out of that congress came the Declaration of Independence, the Bill of Rights and the US Constitution.

Under the increasing tyranny we are facing today, we as Americans are charged with either turning this country around for good, or standing idly by and watching our country decend into depotism even more. "All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent."-Thomas Jefferson. It's time we unite as the freedom-loving patriots we are, and restore our Constitution.

If you haven't heard of the 2009 Continental Congress, I suggest you check it out and consider joining. It is made up of many influential leaders of the freedom movement, and is gaining more and more attention of the People. They have petitions against gun control, open borders, the federal reserve, etc. that will be sent to every representative, senator, supreme court justice, and the white house. They organize major protests that you can be apart of in your area as well. I urge you to check it out and take a moment to sign the petitions, if we can inform the People and get them involved then this can become big.

[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]In order to rally people, governments need enemies. They want us to be afraid, to hate, so we will rally behind them. And if they don't have a real enemy, they'll invent one in order to mobilize us.

We have many problems that need solving. Before demanding a new "Continental Congress" remember the members will not all be coservative firearm lovers. You will also get members representing ALL the wacko groups, resulting in many worse things stuck in the Constitution, or loosing rights we have. Fix what we have but don't open the whole ball of wax.

I'd have to agree, as the Constitution isn't the problem, it's the non-representing elected representatives that need to be removed.

I say use the existing Constitution to remove the inefficient, ineffective and out-of-touch elected officials and begin to truly address issues plaguing America. The concept of "enforcing existing laws" has long been lost on this government, that feels they must justify their existence by continually piling on new and equally ignored laws, rather than simply enforcing what already exists.

Doing so would be better for America, and send a powerful signal to the rest of world.

I'm sorry for not making this clear, but the organization is not a Constitutional Convention. It has no intention of changing the Constitution whatsoever, they make that perfectly clear in their mission statement. The point of the organization is a call to RESTORE our existing Constitution. Like AZSATT said, the problem is the autocrats in office who stray from the Constitution, not the document itself. It's our duty to defend our Republic from the tyrannts in office.

The first line of the website:

"THIS IS NOT A CONSTITUTIONAL CONVENTION. WE WANT TO RESTORE OBEDIENCE TO OUR CONSTITUTION AS IT IS."

copied and pasted from the site. We cannot jump to conclusions or our enemies will jump all over us. We must speak and act truthfully, clearly, and accurately.
And we must scream at the top of our lungs, or else we will be shut up forever :-(
