Thread: reason you should support Health Care Reform

Looks like MoveOn.org has had their annual meeting and dispersed its members.

This time last year, ol' Toilet showed his face to try and elect the Obamessiah.

This year, they have been told to infiltrate conservative sites and push this gov't control.

The troll will move back to his bridge in a few weeks.

Does Toilet even own a gun? Much less... carry one?

Let me go on record as saying that I am not in favor of being on the hook for paying for the health care expenses of prostitutes, drug addicts, smokers, alcoholics, or anybody else whose health problems are the result of poor lifestyle choices. Furthermore, I believe that insurance companies are perfectly within their rights to discriminate against people who fall into this category. Imagine if auto insurance providers weren't allowed to discriminate. This would mean that insurance companies would have to charge the town drunk the same as they charge a responsible driver who has never had a ticket or an accident. The president needs to wake up and stop this madness.
Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both.

People seem to forget that this country has a system based on free enterprise. It doesn't guarantee anyone prosperity or health care or success. What it does promise is Life Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness,or something like that. What it also doesnt guarantee is that I should have to pay or carry anyone else as part of the burden. I try to help people anyway I can. What that does not include is an exorbitant amount of money coming out of my pocket. I help when and where I can. What it all boils down to is PRINCIPLE. The gov't shouldnt be able to dictate to any citizen what type of anything they have to have. Whether it be health care or what color you paint your walls. Thats what it all boils down to. Government intervention in individual lives. To the Gov't I have but a very few words,GET the hell out of my bussiness.
And I dont care who is president or from which party. Govt by the PEOPLE for the PEOPLE.
Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what's for dinner. Liberty is a well armed lamb contesting the vote." - Benjamin Franklin

  6. I finally figured out how to get the point across to a liberal. I postulated, under current legislation, the directory of health and human services would have final say on healthcare, if there were any policy decisions that needed to be made, or if a dispute reached that far. Also, the "end of life counsiling" will be directed by the policy of the director.

    So far so good.

Then I ask how are they going to feel when the director is an appointee of Pres Sarah Pallin?

    They tend to flip out.

Reasons why you should OPPOSE ObamaCare, AKA: Socialized Medicine, Universal Health Care, et.al.

    THERE ARE NO FREE LUNCHES!

We need to expose the facts on Obamacare and ensure millions of Americans know conservative alternatives.

The Left has proposed policies that would:

    • Put bureaucrats in charge of health care decisions;
    • Increase taxes on middle class families;
    • Add trillions of dollars to the national debt;
    • Impose new mandates and restrictions on individual freedom; and
    • Dump individuals and families into a one-size-fits-all government-run health insurance plan.

In recent weeks, we've seen proponents of Obamacare, including President Obama himself, dominate the media. They're glossing over the facts in hopes of winning America's support. Their campaign leaves little or no time for conservatives to explain the facts...

    Obama LIES...
And He's pitching it like the fricking used car salesman he is...
He's giving personal appearances to everybody but Fox News, who happens to have the largest viewership on the planet...

IT will be enforced by the IRS, whom has a long history of Second Amendment Infringement in its own right and with its living abortion the BATFE...

Every uber-liberal-ultra-left-wing nut job is pushing for it and saying its the greatest thing since sliced bread...

No Conservatives, Independents or Moderates, Blue Dog Democrat's are Supporting it...
That's why Prince Harry Reid is threatening the Nuclear Option to force it down our throats if he does not get 60 votes in the Senate...

They are trying to get the Baucus bill pushed through without anybody but its authors having read it, including those asked to vote on it and the American People...

The Baucus bill contains provisions that will ensure that you will be paying nearly 20% of your gross annual household income towards ObamaCare, whether you use it or not...
Lets take a look at what else the author of the Baucus bill has done for the Second Amendment - How the Brady Bill Passed (Thank Legendary Gun-Banner Senator Max Baucus (D-MT and the NRA):
2/94 How the Brady Bill Passed

H.R. 3200 et.al., of ObamaCare contain provisions that will force you into a less-desirable Government plan, because it will be cheaper for your employer to stop providing you with a group health care plan, then to continue to do so under ObamaCare...

People will literally die waiting for Government Bureaucracy Approval, to get treatment...

Were about a 1/2 million doctors short...

Socialized Medicine has failed miserably everywhere in the history of the world...
    Its unsustainable...
    For starters:
    Massachusetts - Failed & Bankrupt
France rated #1 by World Health Organization - Failed & Bankrupt
    Russia - Failed & Bankrupt
    Canada - Failed & Bankrupt
    England - Failed & Bankrupt
    Australia - Failed & Bankrupt
    India - Failed & Bankrupt

The Government has never run any entitlement or other socialistic program or even agency in the black, they have all failed and are bankrupt...
    E.G.:
    Medicare - Failed & Bankrupt
    Medicaid - Failed & Bankrupt
Social Security - Failed & Bankrupt
Post Office - Failed & Bankrupt
Department of Energy - Failed & Bankrupt
Department of Education - Failed & Bankrupt

Thank you Glock Fan for your insightful and excellent comments--could not have said it better. I would appreciate it if jwtollett21 would kindly tell me why we should be looking at a multi-trillion dollar debt that will be past on to the next generation when our dear federal government has not come to grips with mult-trillion dollar debts on social security, medicare, medicaid and prolonged wars (oh! I'm sorry--nation building activiites). Once they fix some of those problems that our illustrious leaders have saddled this country with due to absolute arrogance and incompetence, maybe then AND ONLY THEN should they be addressing healthcare reform. The idea that this current federal government can do anything right is at best an oxymoron. I refuse to continue to rob my grandchildren of evry red cent this country has in the name of "we need healthcare reform and we need it right now". I'm sorry jwtollett21, but you are insulting me with your comments.

I think that health care reform is well over-due, but the government should still stay the hell away from it. My $.02:
    • Tort reform - stop the lawyers from screwing every doctor over every little thing. When doctors don't have to pay as much as $250K per year in insurance, costs will go down.
    • Competition - let the insurance companies sell insurance policies nationwide. Right now, they are limited to an individual state. If they sell in Florida, they cannot sell in Georgia or Alabama or Texas, etc. unles they also are licensed in those states. If they could sell policies anywhere, costs would go down.
    • Drug companies - put some price controls on drugs. It costs me over $400 a month for drugs I take for cholesterol and blood pressure...those prices could come down drastically.

The government cannot run health insurance, any more that Canada can or the UK can. And those countries are KNOWN to have lousy benefits. It's no secret. Obama himself compared the health insurance deal to the Post Office, saying that UPS and FedEx compete with the post office, and the post office (govt) is the one doing lousy. And that's with all kinds of exceptions on what UPS and FedEx can and cannot do. With a stacked deck, the USPS still fails. And they want to take over health care? I don't think so.

And WHY are Health Insurance Companies NOT allowed to provide policies across state lines, like auto insurance companies can?

U.S. Congress "Commerce Clause" Perversion and Abuse...

Once again, the Government is NOT the Solution it is the PROBLEM...

Not withstanding that SCOTUS has ruled multiple times that the Federal Government CANNOT get involved in such things as health care, and could only remotely and at a very limited level be permitted under States rights of the U.S. Constitution...

    WTF is the ACLU NOW?

ObamaCare is BLATANT Federal Government Usurpation of Powers Not Specifically Enumerated Them In The Constitution...

Get the Government OUT of our lives and our business and let the Free Market SOLVE the issue, competition drives the price of anything down...

Look at how quick the price of flat screens dropped for example...

Shopped around for vehicle insurance online or otherwise lately? you can get quotes 100's if not 1000's of dollars different over 6 month and year policies from provider to provider...

Many private state specific health insurance companies (Not Federal or State Government Run) are catching on and I have noticed a number of state specific options available now; and very competitive with your typical group policies you would get through an employer...

    And its portable...

Take us back to the principals this country was founded on; small-limited Government, and self-reliance...

ABOLISH, REPEAL & BAN THE IRS AND BATFE...

Sorry Piece Corps, you had me until that last one. Price caps remove the incentive to research and develope new medicine. If we had price caps, those expensive drugs you need might not exist. Instead of capping the price, let's look at the reason medicine is so expensive and address those issues. Government regulation has a huge impact on the price of meds. (Anyone notice a pattern here?)

Bottom line is that the government needs to get the hell out of the way, quit meddling in private affairs, and allow capitalism work.
