I feel sorry that one of my fellow citizens ended up this way.

Dead, on his own property (which had been in his family for generations) and having to patrol his own land because the government wouldn't control movement in a known area where illegal activity takes place.

Sorry, but I am just not understanding troops in Germany, Okinawa or South Korea "just in case" when Americans are being killed at their homes by illegals crossing our borders on a regular basis. I struggle with tasking goverment employees to levy new taxes and fines when a citizen has to arm themself for deadly encounters while checking their cattle and irrigation/watering systems because our government cannot be bothered to secure our borders citing costs and troop commitments. I mean, which is supposed to be more important to a government, the physical security of their citizens and soil or so-called obligations to other governments when they want you out and don't support you anyway?l

I'd like to think if I was in an area where this was an ongoing occurence, I'd have the integrity and sense of responsibility to be there for my neighbor as long as I was keeping my family at an acceptable level of safety and living. It's a sickening feeling that all the government can do about this is say, "Sorry." or "Stay in your homes and don't approach them."

Arizona is trying at least to deal with the problem, shame on our elected officals for allowing this to continue unchecked. If I remember correctly, the county where this happened has few deputies to begin with and already has them assigned in a southward pattern to do what they can and the State Police are likewise, undermaned and poorly-equipped for this activity.

I think it's time for the original militias to consider reforming. Not to fight ourselves but in the original sense, to augment what our government acknowledges is an under-equipped, ill-prepared military. Securing the borders and providing for the safety of our citizens in their homes is not an optional task of the government in the country I grew up in.
    Reality, DEAL with IT!

My colleague, who was visiting a relative in the Tucson area at the time of the shooting, reported to me that some type of drug bust occurred on his property and that the revenge for this was killing the rancher and his dog. He knew exactly what I was talking about when I asked him. Apparently there's lots of drug trafficing down there.

I only heard about this on usacarry.com.
When I hear about the new state law in Arizona, all I hear about is the protests and alledged racial profiling and boycotting the MBL All-Star game. I did not hear about the murdered rancher.

I fear that many who do not live in that area do not understand what is really going on. Not all gangs are in big cities.
We need to protect our citizens.

Unless you want a predator circling your house because you "MAY" have illegal weapons or drugs in your home...
Or someone called the law and said you were being too loud, or you don't go to the 'Right' church, or whatever!

Mounted weapons are restricted from US law enforcement air craft BY LAW, and for a good reason.

I would think a far right wing radical like you would know that....

Not advocating this but if my father/brother/uncle had been murdered on his land one might simply put up signs around the perimeter warning that trespassers would be shot on sight. They might "take a notion" to go around if the buzzards had a bite or two to eat. There comes a time when one needs to stop violence with violence more severe than the first.
As for stopping griping, if I lived near said ranch you can rest assured that I would be willing and able to give them a hand. It is a bit wrong to tell us to stop griping about someone getting murdered and the state not doing anything or not being able to.
There may not be aerial arsenals up there but several police depts DO HAVE DRONES. Google it for yourself.

festus I never considered you a far right wing radical myself. As a matter of fact I think you are just about in line with our founding fathers on most things. Of course I am sure there are some that would consider George Washington far right wing radical.

Compared to our founding fathers, I'd say Festus is a dang Centrist.

There have been numerous border incursions by members of the Mexican Military escorting armed thugs who deal drugs...all such armed border crossings should be considered an act of war...call up the Natl guard and finish it. time to expand the border with spoils of war while we are at it.
