    Scenarios

Ive got several scenarios, Id like to hear what you would do.

    Scenario 1

You just left wal-mart and accidentally cut someone off as you pulled onto the main road to head home. The vehicle you cut off has several occupants inside it. They begin to harass you, following your every turn. You dont want them to know where you live so you just drive past your home, your cellphone was left at the house so you cant call the police.

After almost an hour of trying to lose these guys you.....

A.) Pull over, and see what their problem is....There are 5 people in the car you can see, you know your gun is on your hip, if they try anything, theyll have a bad day.

B.) Just go back home, if they follow you there, youll just call the police, if they show any aggression, youll draw your weapon at the low ready and advise them not to come any further.

C.) Pull the car over, and if they do as well, youll exit the car, gun drawn and hope they leave you alone.

    Scenario 2

Youre mowing your lawn, you live about 50 yards off a quiet road. You notice two men walking up your driveway, and they needless to say look like trouble.
You approach the men and you see 1 has a crowbar, you stop immediately. They ask about some money for some person youve never heard of before. You tell them you dont know what theyre talking about, and you dont know who the person theyre talking about.

The show signs of aggression. You...

A.) Rush for the house and hope they run away
B.) Back away slowly and continue to explain theyve got the wrong house
C.) Tell them if they leave youll call the police
D.) Place your hand on your weapon and tell them to leave

Or you could come up with your own resolution...

Share some of your own scenarios, or weird situations youd encountered.
Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American Soldier....One died for your soul; the other for your freedom.

I have actually been in this scenario before cell phones existed. When I pointed my gun at the driver's head he found some place else to be and decided to be there.

And that's as far as we got because my gun came out of the holster then and there and they were advised to leave now .

Scenario #1 I would drive to the police station and try to get their license plate number. They'll soon keep driving and not harass you any more. You have to play out the many outcomes in your mind. If you show them your pistol then they could turn the tables and say you threatened them. They have more witnesses and you are at the mercy of the police to try to figure out the truth. Scary
Scenario #2 In this case I would put my hand on the grip and get ready to draw, hopefully they will see my intent and leave instantly after I yelled for them to get off my property. Then go in the house and call the police and report them.
Good thread, makes you think. BTW Massad Ayoob writes articles in the magazine American Handgunner called "The Ayoob Files" where he discusses real life scenarios like these and the resulting outcomes. Will open your eyes real quick about reacting in defense EVEN if justified.

Scenario 1 - Drive past your house--you certainly don't want them to know where you live. I would then drive to the nearest law enforcement location (and try to take in as much identifying information as possible to give to the LEOs). This is what I've instructed my 16 year old to do should she detect that someone is following her. Just because I am armed, doesn't mean a gun has to come into play--it is a tool of last resort.

Scenario 2 - I never turn my back on an aggressor. I would keep telling them that they have the wrong house/person, slowly back away from the threat (keeping them both in my line of sight and trying to maintain a dynamic stance), and have my firearm at-the-ready. If they close in on me (within 10 yards), my at-the-ready position will likely tip them off to the presence of the gun. If indicating the gun helps, it helps. If it doesn't, I'm still ready. BTW, actual running isn't an option for me due to physical limitations--it's one of the reasons I carry.

I think doing mental exercises and visualizing your response in various scenarios is really good training. Like athletes, when that moment comes you don't want to have to spend a lot of time doing mental aerobics--you just need to take action. Train, train, train!

I agree with Hildab: Massad Ayoob has a lot of great information in his writings--definitely worth a read, and very enlightening.

for number 1 drive to the police station for pulling your gun will only lead to trouble. For you don't know if they are armed. Number two pull your gun and tell them to leave your property then go inside and call 911 and give their description to them.

It worked for me, but that was almost 30 years ago when they were a lot less likely to be armed

For the first one,i like Treos idea. For the second,i will go with "leave now,im uncomfortable with you being hear.I dont know who you are looking for." If they continue, again, they get a couple .45s to look at.
    I Love Nicki Minaj

  9. Scenario #1- I would drive to the local police station and report the make model and best description of the folks.

Scenario#2- I am very private and therefore if anyone were to come on my property with weapons demanding money, I will then place my hand on "big Momma" and demand that they leave or else. Sounds like they were trouble anyway especially walking on someone's property with a weapon.
