Obama Says "No" to AWB (For Now)

On the news this am was a story that yesterday in Mexico, Obama stated he would not seek to reimpose the AWB.

Sounds good for now, if it proves to be true. But isn't it likely that he's only doing this so the Democrats don't get voted out of D.C. in 2010? After that, I'll bet he goes after the 2A with a vengeance.

Still have to continue making sure our voices are heard. Can never lapse in our pursuit because there are those out their waiting to jump at the chance.

May want to take a look at the following:

Obama, Calderón: Assault-gun ban could curb border violence - CNN.com

Especially the following excerpt:

Speaking alongside Mexican President Felipe Calderón, Obama said he has "not backed off at all" on a campaign pledge to try to restore the ban. It was instituted under President Clinton and allowed to lapse by President George W. Bush.

"I continue to believe that we can respect and honor the Second Amendment right in our Constitution -- the rights of sportsmen and hunters and homeowners that want to keep their families safe -- to lawfully bear arms, while dealing with assault weapons that, as we know here in Mexico, are used to fuel violence," Obama said.

He said he would not try to reinstate the ban because he could not get it done NOW. He would enforce existing laws for now, but he definately wants to get the ban reinstated in the future. We are the reason he is not pushing for it, and we must keep up the pressure.

the problem is.. that obama's lips were moving... and we all know what that means.

Don't trust this guy. We don't have rights to ammo. AWB right now would crush another industry during a recession and make us less safe. My guess, depending on the outcome of the 2010 elections, that's when he'll do it.

I'm not sure what the right moment for another AWB and I thought the Mexican Drug Cartel war and Binghamton would have libs parading around with AWB but they haven't. Kind of makes me wonder what they do have in mind because they will pursue some kind of restrictions on weapons ownership.

Just means he and the other Democrats know they will lose seats if they tried it.
Maybe enough to get it repealed?

They'll wait till their numbers get stronger, economy improves and after an election and hit it hard while riding the wave. They'll need to make sure it is not on the agenda prior to the elections.

How much worse could it get.

Personally, I'd like to see Thomas Jefferson in office again today. I wonder what he'd make of the current state of our government.:yu:

George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Newt GIngrich, Carl Rove, Rush Limbaugh, John Mccain, and the worst of all Sarah Palin

Thought you had left us JW. I see you still believe in our current administration even after the many untruths have come out. The thing is we don't know how John McCain or Sarah Palin would have done but we do know how Obama is doing and his popularity is falling fast. Do you still believe he won't come out with an AWB?

why would i leave a place where i am so loved. I still think Obama is a great guy who has done 100percent better than past presidents on at least doing what he said he would. None will ever be honest and truthful and be what they say they will be. We are in the first 100 days so i think we should probally delay this discussion until Obama is out of office in 8 years. Then lets see how the country is doing. The thing is we do know how palin and old mccdonald would have done cause they are clones of Bush.
Like I said all along. Taking our guns away are not on his to do list for now. i think he personally would prob do it but i think there will be too much pressure from conservative dem and rep, plus the right wing extremist that hopefully will keep him from pursuing it. He has done alot in the first few days as president. He got the recovery and reinvestment act through which will help, the State Chilidrens health insurance plan and some other good stuff along with some stuff i am not crazy for. I also like how all these big shot conservative republican governors who were going to reject the funds were like no thanks, well ok thanks. You know why they took it? Cause there states need it. I still agree more with Obama though than i would have if mccain would have made it so i am still 100% behind my vote i cast last Nov. As of now it will be cast again in 4 years.

Are you on Fricking Crack?

The Usurper Socialist Obama has spent more money in his first 30 days in office then the total spent by all our past governments combined have spent in their entirety, inflation adjusted !

If he is not shot, or impeached before we are all fricking bankrupt it will be a fricking miracle...
