You overlooked what seemed to be an insignificant detail:
Since the FCU (Fire Control Unit) is the serialized part, Glock is releasing an open-source reference model of the lower grip; thus (without saying so) encouraging the Glock community to create their own custom, 3D printed, modifications of grip textures, mag-wells, accessory rails, etc.
