CINCINNATI, OH — Two women were hospitalized after a shooting occurred in Avondale early Friday morning.
According to Cincinnati police, the incident began when a woman was sitting in her vehicle in the 3500 block of Reading Road. Two other women approached her car and began attacking her with rocks.
An officer at the scene stated that the female driver acted in self-defense and shot both attackers. FOX19 NOW’s Payton Marshall reported from the scene, noting that the woman’s vehicle had flat tires and broken back and side windows, indicating the severity of the attack.
Both of the women who were shot were transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. One of them sustained life-threatening injuries, police said. The driver, who defended herself, is currently being interviewed by police.
Cincinnati police are continuing to investigate the incident to determine the exact circumstances leading up to the shooting.
