A violent intruder was fatally shot in self-defense by an apartment resident in Tuscaloosa, AL, after breaking into the home and assaulting his sister this past Sunday.
The primary residents of the apartment, a brother and sister, along with other witnesses, cooperated with the police. The intruder, Namarcus Giles, Jr., had a history of physical abuse towards the sister during their previous relationship. On the day of the incident, Giles threatened to come to the apartment, and later arrived, forced entry, and began assaulting the sister.
In an act of self-defense, the brother armed himself and shot Giles, who did not survive the encounter. The scene’s physical evidence and witness accounts were consistent with this course of events, and law enforcement was contacted immediately. Witnesses and evidence support the account of the incident, with no arrests made as the investigation continues.
The fact that the brother was armed and able to protect his sister during this harrowing situation highlights the importance of responsible gun ownership for self-defense purposes. If he hadn’t been armed, the assault on his sister might have continued or escalated, resulting in further harm or even death.
