A Chicago man went to a neighbor’s house to investigate a loud noise and wound up having to use his concealed carry gun to defend his life against a man wielding a knife.
Last night shortly before 10:45 PM in the Rogers Park neighborhood in Chicago, a man heard a loud noise coming from his neighbor’s house. He went over to investigate and found a woman arguing with her 19-year-old son, who was also holding a knife. The Chicago Police Report stated that the 19-year-old appeared to be in the midst of a mental episode.
The man decided to leave, but the 19-year-old followed him. As he continued to approach him, he drew his concealed carry gun and shot the suspect, hitting him in the leg.
When the police arrived on the scene, they found the suspect still holding the knife down the street. The officers tased him to place him in custody. He was transported to a hospital, where he was treated for his wound.
This definitely sounds like a legal self-defense shooting. In most cases, if someone threatens you with a knife, you should be justified to use lethal force. And remember that people can close the distance extremely fast. If you haven’t heard of the Tueller Drill, watch the video below.
We say this all the time, but you have to be prepared for whatever happens when you interject yourself into a situation like this. But this man possibly saved the life of the woman who was in an argument with the suspect. Who knows what would have happened had he not shown up and got the attention of the suspect.
