CHICAGO, IL – On a regular Tuesday afternoon in Chicago’s Archer Heights neighborhood, a sudden shooting incident erupted involving a Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) bus supervisor. The situation escalated following a traffic accident near West 47th Street and South Archer Avenue.
Around 2 p.m., a collision involving a CTA bus and several vehicles happened. The scene quickly attracted a crowd, including a tow truck driver who was there to help clear the wreckage. However, the situation took a dangerous turn when shots were fired from a white Dodge Durango aimed at the crowd.
Lorenzo Hernandez, who was on his way to work, was among those present at the scene. One of the bullets hit his SUV, but luckily didn’t go through, saving him and a nearby tow truck driver from injury. Reacting to the sudden threat, the tow truck driver, who was also a Concealed Carry License (CCL) holder, fired two shots at the gunman, displaying a practical application of self-defense.
The CTA supervisor was hit in the thigh and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was stabilized. Chicago Police arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation. They confirmed a CCL holder did fire back at the assailants and continued to collect evidence to find the culprits.
This incident in Chicago’s Archer Heights neighborhood brings to light the importance of legal firearm carry for personal protection. The tow truck driver, a CCL holder, was able to respond to a dangerous threat, showcasing the real-world application of self-defense laws. As debates on gun ownership continue, such instances provide a practical perspective on the significance of concealed carry licenses in promoting personal safety and potentially protecting innocent lives. The unfolding situation accentuates the essential role of responsible gun handling and awareness in diverse scenarios.
Just wait. Illinois will probably arrest the tow truck driver for some trumped up charge.
