We get asked a lot of questions, and it’s only fair that we attempt to answer them. Questions with longer answers often become articles and sometimes we even get some USA Carry Readers to submit their answers. This article is for all the questions that didn’t need their own article. I have a concealed carry permit in Illinois can I carry legally in Iowa or Missouri ??
Does Wisconsin recognize a Nevada CCW and, if so, if I obey their laws can I carry with impunity?
We got quite a few questions this week asking whether or not certain states accepted other state’s permits or licenses. These readers might not have been aware that we have our Concealed Carry Reciprocity Maps that show this. Just remember that you need to obey the laws of the state you are carrying in, not the laws of the state that issued you a permit or license. Each state has different laws so make sure you read up on the state you plan to visit.
Hi, I recently moved to Oklahoma from Missouri. I took a conceal carry class back in 2009 or 2010 when I lived in Kansas and was issued a permit to conceal carry. Then as you know, Kansas didn’t require a permit to carry, so I never renewed my permit. I have since divorced and moved a few times. My question is, do I have to retake the class all over again in Oklahoma to get a permit to conceal carry, or do you honor the fact that I already passed the course in Kansas? Thank you for any feedback!
Oklahoma requires that you supply an original signed training certificate indicating handgun authorized to carry or an original signed exemption certificate, both of which need to be issued in the past three years. You will need to take a firearms safety and training class from a certified gun safety instructor.
