Even before concealed carry [hopefully] passes in Illinois, Downers Grove library officials have passed an ordinance to ban firearms in the library and library-owned property.
In response to a bill making its way through the state Legislature that would allow Illinoisans to carry concealed weapons, the Downers Grove Public Library Board of Trustees banned firearms from the library’s premises.
“It’s a simple statement that firearms are not permitted,” said Library Director Christopher Bowen. “We’ve been watching Illinois House Bill 148. It looks like it has a lot of support and may pass this year.”
