RICHMOND, VA — Gun Owners of America says its legal team was back in court in Virginia last week, asking a judge for a full statewide injunction against the state’s so-called “assault weapons” ban.

The details come from GOA’s own weekly update, published Saturday, Oct. 24, as reported by Gun Owners of America. GOA wrote that it “headed back to court in Virginia to fight the state’s so-called ‘assault weapons’ ban,” and that its lawyers argued for a full statewide injunction. “Our legal team made their case to the Judge, and we’re excited to see what happens next,” the group said.

GOA is a party to this case. The court’s ruling and the hearing record were not available, so this account rests entirely on GOA’s description of what happened. GOA’s update does not name the court, the judge, or the case, and it reports no ruling so far.

An injunction is a court order telling the government to stop enforcing a law. A full statewide injunction, which is what GOA says it asked for, would block Virginia from enforcing the ban anywhere in the state.
