At midnight on December 6, 2022, in Grayson County, Virginia, a homeowner heard his bedroom window break and went to retrieve his handgun.
An intruder who entered the home through the broken window attacked the homeowner, attempting to restrain him from behind. A struggle ensued, and the homeowner was able to fire two shots, killing the intruder.
Deputies with the Grayson County (VA) Sheriff’s Office have stated that the shooting appears justifiable.
This intruder was able to attempt to assault the homeowner either before or just as he was getting to his handgun, even though the noise of the break-in alerted the homeowner to action. Therefore, it is important to keep our firearms close at hand at all times of the day!
