DOTHAN, AL – A homeowner was forced to shoot a man that broke into his home and attacked a woman inside.
According to Dothan PD, the suspect had someone drive him to a home that he suspected his ex-girlfriend to be in. He forced his way into the main entrance of the home and then through another door before being confronted by the homeowner. He then forced his way past the homeowner and kicked in the door of the room his ex-girlfriend was in.
The suspect then pulled her from the room and started assaulting her. The homeowner retrieved a handgun and ordered the suspect to stop the assault. The suspect then charged toward the homeowner, who shot him once in the torso.
The wounded suspect was able to make it to the car he arrived in. Whoever drove him to the home then drove him to a hospital and dropped him off. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
The police are still investigating the incident but made this statement:
“it is not believed there will be any charges against the homeowner for the shooting death of Sexton due to him acting in self defense on his own property as well as for the protection of another individual.”
The fact that the police even have to say they don’t believe there will be any charges towards the home owner after the perp kicked in three doors, attacked 2 people and was warned to stop before he was shot is appalling. I’m thinking what took him so long?
