A 58-year-old suspect was shot multiple times as soon as he broke into a Philadelphia home through the back window by the homeowner.
The suspect was taken to the hospital in stable condition and has not been identified. The shooting occurred along the homes on the 4600 block of Newhall Street. No other injuries have been reported.
With the timing of the shooting by the homeowner, they likely had recognized the situation and were ready to defend themself and their home.
Speaking again on home defense, situational awareness plays a large part in making a successful defense.
The break-in occurred after 4:30 PM. This is a reminder to be aware of your surroundings when leaving and returning home.
Otherwise, before thinking about self-defense in your home, it is also best to know your state’s laws in doing so and what leans towards being more outright justified. With that in mind, having a plan is what can set the stage in making you safeguard your livelihood.
