The altercation began when the suspect, reportedly highly intoxicated, attempted to gain access to a residence by knocking on the front door. After being denied entry, he proceeded to break the glass of the back sliding door, prompting an immediate response from the homeowners. During the ensuing scuffle, both homeowners suffered injuries from the broken glass.
According to local media, one of the homeowners used a .22 rifle, striking the suspect in the shoulder. This apparently stopped the threat, showcasing that even a smaller caliber firearm can be sufficient in a critical self-defense situation.

Fact is, a .22 hurts, quite a lot. I don’t know what kind of crazed drugged up bogyman, hell bent on murder despite searing pain, some people are expecting, but keeping better company might be more effective than a larger caliber. For those not defending themselves from a pissed off drug dealer high on PCP, pain has a way of taking the fight out of a person. The vast majority of intruders are not mindless killing machines disinterested in their own self preservation. If that’s your problem, then stop pissing off drug dealers.
