It’s 2022, and so far, it looks like Chicago will continue where it left off in 2021. A 28-year-old man got shot when he met up with another guy selling a pair of shoes Tuesday evening.
According to police, the victim met the 18-year-old selling the shoes in the Humboldt Park neighborhood.
Before handing over the shoes, the seller asked to see the money, and as the buyer reached in his pocket, the seller pulled a gun out and shot him in the shoulder.
The victim (buyer) is a concealed carry holder and shot back, hitting the gunman (seller) in his hand. The victim hit an unoccupied parked car while trying to get away, and the EMS took them both to a local hospital.
CBS said, “Police arrested the 18-year-old man, but no charges have been filed,” and Fox32 said, “Area Four detectives are investigating.”
Normally I would not point the two comments out, but in Chicago, the “no charges have been filed” is probably correct. If you really want to buy a pair of shoes from some random person, try to use somewhere safe, like a police station parking lot. I wonder if the buyer kept the shoes?
